Sorry for posting in here, my motor is USDM, but I figured those who lurk in this forum are more likely to know what's going on.
I have a 19997 Civic DX D16Y7. 105K miles. I just drove it back to Annapolis, MD from Ohio. The CAI messes up the PCV and I have unusually high oil consumption and I think I burned through much of it on the way home. I was traveling on average 90 mph from Breezewood to Baltimore. When I got back to Annapolis, the oil light would come on on hard turns or stops. It started making funny noises, a clcking sound that would happen at the begining of throttle, or after 5k rpm's. I put 2 quarts of oil in it, the same I get when I get a change, and no improvement.
It is independent of the axle, transmission, and the clutch. I was able to make it in neutral, and by plucking the throttle pulley with my hand. It sound like it's coming from the #2 Cylinder (second one in from the left looking at the motor from the front, I guess that's 2).
Question: Possible problems? Potential costs? Im thinking the lack of oil and high rpm's likely warped a cylinder or burned a ring and Im hearing the resulting knock. What should I do? I am really friggin broke right now, but have to have it fixed soon (Im broke because I am going on vacation in the outerbanks in a week er so, those houses are expensive.)
HELP!?!?! Anyone know any reputable, reliable, and not a million dollars/labor hour shops in Maryland? Anyone got a D16Y7 they wanna get rid of? I live in an Apartment, so taking the valve cover off and poking around is not an option. Need some advice, and quick.
Thanks AF.
