whats the best engine?

hey i need some help. i know there are a couple engines that i could put in my 97 civic hx coupe. i want to know what the best engine with the most hp that i could put in there. im not car illitarate but im also not the most hardcore car guy. if you could tell me the best engine to put in my car, i would appreciate it. also, if it really matters what cold air intake i put on it. anything to increase hp would help, be specific and let me know the best place to find the parts.

First you have to tell us if you are going, N/A with it or if you going forced induction of some sort. what is your budget. cause i know some great places to get engines,trannies,ecus, and all that jazz just answer the questions first.

damn...yall cats is harsh...hey man go type r (if u have the money) gsr if u dont have that much money but still got something stashed away, and b16 if u want something cheap thatll still run kind off okay...and if your really really really tryna go fast invest your money in a d15b heard those are great motors (hahaha)

by a b18b and see how you like that then put a b16 head so your vtec will scream with the bottom end of the b18 and the top end of the vtec(b16)you should have a fast ass ride. or u could just by a obd II gsr and you will still smash.
