OH MAN I LOVED IT. This car has like one of the best gear shifting things (i guess gear box). I've driven a prelude, accord, pick-up and even my sisters BMW (although cant compare our lowly G20 to a beemer). Oh man but to the point. Just the amount of power i felt while driving a stick was like the doubled or something. I mean i drive an auto and the power doesnt seem anything compared to the stick. SHIT i regret getting an auto (actually dad bought it :) ) But ya i loved the stick version.

no doubt i feel you. I wanted a stick, but parents wanted car to be auto and theres nothing you can do, unless you want to pay for everything yourself.

hahah...that's why I bought my own G20. :D It's a P10 though. I'm curious how the automatic feels since I've never tried it...

I've always wondered the same thing. How the automatic acutally feels. I guess I'll have to bum a ride off the AtomicFrogg. :D

You have that backwards.
Having went from a AT '91 to a MT '96. The difference is outstanding. The MT brings the SR to life. In all honesty, it feels like you have a more powerful motor (stock for stock). Also going from modded AT to higher modded MT is a HUGE difference. I had a chance to drive a family friends P11. Even though it was stock, it felt heavy, then again it is. I do like the way the stock P11 handles though.

i didn't know how to drive stick until i learned at the car dealership i worked at...
hahahahaa
poor civics- taking the abuse of a newbie all day long...
it definitely is more fun driving a stick shift- i drove this little lx coupe one time and i stomped on the gas when the light turned green and dropped the clutch- whoaaaaaaaa- that lil 115 hp engine made the tires squeal on the road- it was cool. the control you have over the engine and the extra interaction with the car adds to the fun. an automatic is so boring- (one of the reasons why i put a playstation in my g)...
if i had to do it again- i'd get a stick- but now i feel too old and too much like a family man (i dunno why) the next car will most likely be an automatic- i'm an old soul and well- gotta keep a free hand for the occasional soda pop and cellphone walkie talkie dealyo...

hahaha, yah, it feels faster doesn't it? but if your shift is slow you might as well go with an AT.
i do get a kick out of MT's...but not for my commuter.

my freind with the White G20 has the same mods as me and his is auto and his still seems fast
the only thing that makes u feel like your goin faster in my car is just shiftin the gears.... cause we both have raced each other and we both got up to atleast 120 ... i beat his ass so its straight ... sticks are better! haha

I had a 94 auto. I now have a 95 5-spd. I loved both my cars, paid for them all myself too (since I was 16). I don't regret buying the auto by any means, however, I do wish I would have bought a 5-spd the first time around instead (too bad I couldn't find one).
Oh yeah, another reason I think the 5-spd feels quicker is that they are about 80lbs lighter in similar trim, just due to the different tranny!

Sometimes I regret not getting a MT, but aside from those "sometimes" times, I am sooooo glad to have AT:flash:
There is nothin' worse that stick in traffic! F'n stop-n-go traffic is a motha. Plus I do so much shit when I'm driving: changin' CD's, smokin', gettin my feel on, etc... It's good to have a hand free!:hehehe:
I love the way my AT drives!! :)

I'll tell you, I miss driving a stick. The last three vehicles Ive had, including the G, have all been auto. I miss it. You have a lot more control, better milage, and its just way more fun to drive than an automatic.
Zykotic - only $2k for your conversion, Im just beginning to see what it all takes to convert mine, shoot me an email on your endeavour, Im interested

Driving standard is surely "sportive"!!! As for the AT? The Brits called them "handicap driving". Eversince....I haven't touched an AT and not planning on it neither...
Your next task is to drive the MT with feelings. By that I mean feel the car vibration at certain rpm, listen to the revs, then shift gears without looking at the tach!!! Know your car, in other words. Cuz when you're on the busy road, there is no time to look down the tach. Learn the habit and it will pay off in the long run!!!

Same here. It gets to me sometimes when I was to pass somebody and the AT takes so damn long to downshift. :( Anyone know of any transmission mods to improve performance?

When you gas it, do you push the pedal *ALL* the way to the floor? In some cars that can be the difference.

Actually I went to lunch and found that as long as I am not going over 80 I can drop it into 2 and get a nice boost in speed then bring it back up to d (all the while od is turned off)

yeah- AT isn't really - THAT bad...
if u stomp on the gas- the car will just leap forward after it downshifts...
pretty strong.

And therein lies the problem. There's very little margin between a little surge and a big jump. Sometimes when I literally floor it on the highway, it'll drop to 3rd to 2nd and it'll be howling at 6K-6.5K rpm. I know it won't hurt the engine, but I don't see why it can't immediately drop into 3rd and hold it without me having to lockout OD.:(

I have the same feeling but just the opposite. I have to sit through stop and go traffic on my daily commutes and sometime I wish I had an auto in the traffic. But every car I've owned has been a manual so I've gotten used to driving in traffic. As long as there's no stopping traffic, manual rules! :D
