Holy Wacko Batman!

Hey everyone,
I recently ran into a stupid catosrophy. I was glueing on a side panel onto my AMT 1/25 batmobile model and to make sure it would stay in place, I squeezed a glob of glue behind the panel where no one would see it. I did this becuase the panel is only connected to the body along the edges. I was afraid it wouldn't hold tight enough. Well what a mistake that was. After a dust-less tamiya semi gloss paint job ( which is hard to due since I live in a dusty city, Philadelphia), I notice an indent on the side of the body. I had no clue where that came from so I just puttied it up, sanded it and resprayed it. Yay!!!!it looks great now but what!!!!!!!!!! I looked at the spot where i puttied the indent up and it seemed to have went down. Reforming the indent. So i touched it and it was soft. I had made sure i allowed the putty to dry so it wasnt the putty. So i looked under the body and to my surprise I find out that the glob of glue that i used earlier slowly ate into my model. I should have knew from the beginning. In all the years of modeling, I have never had this happen to me. I'm pretty emabrassed. So now I dug into the indent alittle to allow the glue to fully dry and harden up so I can reputty the indent. As a result of all the puttying and coats of paint previously, i am trying to strip my the paint. Just when you think my luck couldn't get any worst. I bought the wrong CSC. I bought the CSC all wheel cleaner and after soaking the body in it for a day, the paint didn't even budge. Not even a flake. So i think i'm just going to try using my friends brake fluid, which he has in his garage. Ill reprime the body after reparing the indent or hole and so back to step 1 for me. I'll post pics when I'm done. (just incase, no one would happen to have this model unbuilt or a extra body they would like to send me..lol?)

Oh yea... CSC doesn't work well on tamiya paint either.

I've got a built-up / Cut-up body in my junk, if you just need a piece of the side. lmk

well be patient, sometimes csc takes a whole week to do any damage, also, try spraying a fresh coat of paint and let it cure for a LITTLE BIT, it might let it come off a bit quicker

Too much solvent glue will distort anything. I've done that in my earlier days of modeling. Buy the stuff in the bottle like Tenax, Ambroid, or Testors. Stay away from anything that comes in a tube. The liquid glues will also require a closer fit so you end up being more careful at test-fitting; your model will look better in the end.

CSC wheel cleaner will not remove anything but brake dust. Real CSC will etch anything that's aluminum (like wheels), that's the stuff you want for removing paint. Wear skin and eye protection! Very important!
