I was reading this list of RI's able to import and covert cars from other countries into the U.S. and make them street legal..
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/web_RI_list05282004.html
And theres a HUGE list of Registered importers. Other than MotoRex. Some of them are close to florida where i live and i was wondering if MotoRex is the ONLY game in town when it comes to legalizing and importing skylines..
MotoRex cant be the only company that can legalize the car. It just wouldn't make sense. I was wondering if what i think is true about me being able to buy a skyline off of a place like
http://www.monkys.jp/e/
Or bafta.com
then sending it to the importer in florida and they go through the process. Thus saving me loads of money.
If motorex is the only place that can legalize the skyline im freaking screwed because that ammount of cash for one car is just too much. I mean i could buy about 5 cars for the same ammount of money..

There are lots of RIs than can bring the car in for you, but Motorex is still one of, if not the only company that can legalize Skylines for sure.

Well aslong as i dont have to pay the high prices to bring the car in using motorex.. Anything is cool i guess.
I guess i would have to still shell out more than 20,000 grand to get the car street legal though..

Just because a place is an RI doesn't mean they only import JDM cars, I imagine many of them deal in European cars, specifically the German ones.

Simply put at this time MotoRex is the ONLY company that can legalize a Skyline for the US roads.
RBmotoring has filed the paperwork (I believe), but Sean hasn't come on here and openly said RBmotoring is officially legalizing them yet. Why would I take Sean's word? He was an intragal part of MotoRex for years. He KNOWS what needs to be done, and doesn't have to claim this and that.
Now if you don't believe it go and try another place. I honestly don't give a toss. It's your money, but if you get ripped of don't come back whining about as you were told already.
As far as bringing the cars into the coutry, I'm not entirely sure what's involved for any RI to be able to do that. I would imagine it isn't that difficult to file the appropriate paperwork to be able to do that. It is the LEGALIZATION where MotoRex has got everyone.
I've said it before sooooo many times it is getting aggrivating because people just won't listen. I'm in the same boat as my fellow US citizens. I'm looking to move back to the States at some stage and want to bring my GTR with me, however I'm not willing to pay the outrageous price for compliance as it would be the same as buying the car all over again! I don't like it anymore than you do, and yes I feel the same as everyone here does. I'm not promoting or protecting ANYONE or ANY COMPANY, but facts are facts and until someone can PROVE another company can do what MotoRex does nothing changes here!

Oh i already know that MotoRex is the only one that can legalize razor. Just wanted to make sure that it isn't the only one that can bring the actual car into the country. The price of brining it rather than legalizing it was the thing that got me...

As long as you have filed ALL the correct paperwork necessary with ALL the proper channels maybe. I thought all imported cars HAVE to go through an RI in the USA.

He's just saying that to actually ship a Skyline to the US, anyone can do that. Which is true, anyone can buy a Skyline, arrange shipping or have it bought with shipping (through, batfa, monkys, etc.) And have the Skyline arrive at the port in the US.
But, that's all Skyline_R32_Canada was saying, and is correct.
However, he knows and didn't say what you and I also know Razor, that anyone can get the car to that point, and then you have an RI pick up and do the rest.
However, not ALL cars have to go through an RI. There are three exceptions: The car is 25 years or older, is on the VSA or VSP column of the elgibile vehicles list or the car is a US spec. vehicle.
But, that's all Skyline_R32_Canada was saying, and is correct.

If I find a 1979 skyline or even just a rolling chassis can I just ship it to CT? what would I have to do to make that happen. I've been on the lookout for some old school skylines around here but I want to know if it's going to be a realistic adventure.

there I said it 6 months ago and I'd say the same thing today. I have heard of a 25 year rule in the US and I am looking for some information on it. Is it as simple as, if the car's 25 years old you can bring it in and drive it on the street no problem or... are there criteria that need to be met other than just the age. It's sort of like canadas 15 year rule..... and for that.... yes you can just bring the car in with no problems when it's 15 years old. So I was just asking the same thing about the US. I see a few people on cardomain with 15 year old skylines in canada but I havent seen very many people who have used the 25 year rule in the US to bring a skyline in. there's nothing newbieish about it.and I'd still like to know.... hm..... let me check some government websites.....

I've done a bit of reading over the past few days and I still can't find anymore details. It seems like everything I read says that you must do this and this and this.... unless the vehicle is 25 years old. period. dot. Seeing as how none of the sites I sifted through mention anything further than just the age I post an open invitation to prove me wrong. if you can find something i'm missing please post it here because I'd like to know.... but for now I'm saying yes. If I find a 1980 or older skyline (25+) I can ship the car to the united states and register it. simple as that. If i missed something please let me know. or if you know someone who has imported any non USDM vehicle that is over 25 YO i'd like to talk to them.... thanks :)

M3S, you need to get it before you are getting short. You can ship it for free IF IT IS A DAILY DRIVER. TMO won't ship collector cars...just regular transportation.
