Story- I saw one of my friends down town, he asked for a ride in my car, so I took him on this road just outside of town. We were cruising around the corners, not very fast at all, then there's this deer that pops out of nowhere, I hit my brakes and they locked up, I slid for about 10 feet on pavement, missed the deer and went over the edge (about a 3 foot drop off), slid in the dirt for about 20-25 feet, slid through some shrubs and hit a few small trees (maybe 6" thick each) which stopped me.

Ouchie... my condolances. What are your plans now? Part it out and collect the insurance money? Repair it and drive it?

I'm gonna tear the car apart next week and see how bad it is, then decide what I'm gonna do.

Ouch man, i feel your pain, I crashed my Gen3 LS once...

1. I hate deer.
2. I recommend going out there, cutting down those trees, and setting them a blaze.

the questoin is; is the motor ok? to me thats all that would matter. anyway get a shot gun and make sure the deer doesnt see another day. and by the way im really sorry bout the car. it WAS nice. hopefully it will live to see more happy days or if not i hope the next car will like that motor:)

Andrew, sorry to heere about you're unfortunate luck man. That sucks, I remember all the trouble you had trying to get that car down there too, and all the crap that guy pulled.

I'm pretty sure that it is totalled, and I'm hoping that it is so I can collect from the insurance company and then buy it back and transfer everything to another car or part it out. The car has been giving me problems so I'm ready for another one.

if u got receipts for the motor and shit even if the insurance company takes the car to an auto auction u can legally go over there with the insurance agent and take anything you have receipts for. well at least thats what ive heard

I talked with my insurance guy today, totally cool guy. He was saying that I need to leave everything in my car that is worth value and they will add up everything and write me a check for what they think the car is worth, and then after that they will subtract the damage and stuff and determine how much the car is worth now, and that will be how much I can buy the car back for. So they'll write me a check for a few grand, then I can buy it back for less than a grand. :) And I have first dibs on the car, they will only get rid of it to someone else if I say that I don't want it.

Damn...my condolences. Glad you are alright. F-ing deer. They are everywhere. My dad has hit like 3, and everyone I know has hit at least one (except me!) they are everywhere where I live. We have a little saying round hear, there are those who have hit deer.....and those who are gonna! Dumb f-ing animals they are. One my dad hit actually cut back into the road once he was almost past and ran right into the side of his truck. Anyways it is good that you got full coverage! insurance is great. And with deer it goes under the comp. part of the insurance and it doesn't raise your premiums if you hit one. So make sure you tell your insurance company you hit it before you whent into the ditch, and that is what caused you to go in. otherwise I think they will put it under collision which will raise rates!

hey kicker, if you want to buy another i have a 93 ls for sale. i know it'll make it up to WAwithout a sweat. since april i have put 4000mi on it going down to so cal, 2 times to NV, and a few trips around OR.

my only complaint about the car is it's AT and that does me ZERO good in the snow. so i have decided to sell it. got my hands on a 97 GS, MT, with only 78,000mi.

side note: for the fun of it, we were passing people in cruise control on the I-5. it's pretty funny watching people stomp on the pedal as you just gently push a button on the steering wheel :evillol:

And the car just isn't worth it to me, it's old, almost has 200k miles on it. The car has been stolen before, the previous owner wired the whole car very shittily, it doesn't even have the right ecu or wiring harness, doesn't have an ignition, and has so many bugs that I don't want to spend the time to fix anymore. It was fun while it lasted, now it's time for something else. :)
