shift light wont work please help!!!

i have a shift light that i installed in my civic its a 93 ex and i used a rpm activated switch to activate when it works, i wired it exactly how the directions say, i wired it to the back of my gauge cluster for the tach reading and the tach stopped working and as soon as i disconnected teh wire the tach worked again, i was wondering if there is somewhere i can wire it to? does anyone have any experience with this that they can tell me how to wire it? any help is appreciated, thanks in advanced

your supposed to connect the signal wire to the negative side of the ignition coil (which is inside the distributor). i think that u dont have to go inside the distributor to get to this wire. im not 100% sure, but i think it's one of the blue wire next to the distributor.

Boosted, your right about the distributor. Just remove the cover and look on the ignition coil. It's marked with poitive and negative where the wires are screwed down.
