I want to either get the flowmaster 1 chambers or have no mufflers and just have straight pipes. I am looking for that really loud race sound and dont know which one would be the better deal. Any help would be appreciated :smokin: I have a 01 GT

I too wanted to run straight pipes.Straight pipes will be louder then the flows but you may loose some power/torque.What kind of mid pipe are you gonna run?
If you want it really loud get an O/R h pipe to go along with your setup.

is it an everyday driver...if it is, i think straight pipes w/ an o/r xorh owuld be way too loud , plus you'd be missin out onsome torq. 2chambers and an o/r x are good for me, i couldnt imagine anything louder :screwy:

Yeah, 40-series flows and O/R H are pretty much loud enough for anyone.
MAC Flowpaths are pretty darn loud too.

the mid pipe will most likely be the stock H. Yes it is a everyday driver

Unless you're running a really crazy set-up and spinning past 6,000 RPM all the time, you're going to lose a ton of power with straight pipes. H-pipe with Flowmaster 40s sound very nice. Magnaflows also sound very nice. You do need some backpressure though or you'll really hurt your power.

I have 1 chamber flows on my truck with a custom H-pipe and it sounds awsome. I'm always getting complements and been told its the best sounding truck around more than once.

I went with straight pipes from the conv. back. The conv. keeps plenty of backpressure. My setup isn't as loud as everyone with flowmasters around here, but it has a nice tone.
This setup is on a 95 4.6 Its just what I liked these guys can tell you a better way to go for real performance.

95 mustangs had the 5.0 the T-bird had the 4.6. T-birds had the 4.6 begining of 94. I do love the sound though.

Open pipes will be loud, but they will sound absolutely horrible especially with a stock H pipe. You need to have a knarly engine for open pipes to sound even remotely decent, but then it will be so loud you'll get splitting headaches. I drove home from highschool once with open longtube headers on my '65 'Stang and I had a migrain when I got back and an unpleasant ringing in my ears. It was 30 miles, but still. You want something loud, get some Dynomax Race Bullets and an O/R H or X pipe and dump it in front of the axle.

I will probably just get some 1 chambers then. I just love the sound that they put out. Anyone know where to buy them at??
