Heres the link of what I am gonna talk about

It’s a black plastic thing that air comes out to go to the air intake. Cause I currently have a short ram intake which cam with the car and this thing is still in the engine bay. I see a lot of other people with there engine bay and they don’t have this thing any more.
So what I want to know, when I took it out. It was connected to a black tube which comes from a hole on the chassis. Its on the side. Do u guys know what hole I am talking about. It’s the passage way for the air filter..
Cause what I wanna do is make a heat shield for the intake. So what do u guys to with the extra air patch on the side. Cause what I know is there is 2 paths for the air to get in the engine bay. One is on the side. And the other in underneath my intake. And both holes are connected to on main path. I think that’s right.
So can some one help me with what to do with this thing and the tube on the side. What I am thinking is, try and make it lead directly to the intake and then make a heat shield to cover and trap the cold air in. using bother air paths.
If u guys are confused. Then I wll post up more pics 2morrow.
thanks

That's part of your resonator (the rest is under the hole inside your bumper). The purpose of it in Honda's is to make the motor quieter while driving. Most people remove them when they install an aftermarket intake because you don't need it anymore. Actually, you really don't need it period. It just makes the motor quieter, nothing more.
The hole that's left when removing it can be left open - it has no impact on a short ram intake really. Most cold air intakes use this hole though to place the filter where the resonator used to be.
