1996 Caravan, 3.0, 3 Speed auto, developed stalling symptom (engine quits) about 3 weeks ago. Car would start, idle and run fine untile it was at operating temp for a few minutes, then irratic stalls (engine just shut down). Did not matter if it was running at speed, slowing down, or whatever. Seemed the only constant was temp. Van would not restart immediately. Problem became consistantly worse, less time between engine quiting. Would take 1 to 2 minutes to restart each time. At first, no codes (had Autozone parts store pull codes). Replaced the fuel filter thinking it was clogged. No joy! Then had independant garage pull codes, and got a code 11, was told this is a Crank Sensor Malfuntion. Replaced Crank Sensor. No joy! Van still stalls, but differently. Still seems to be temp. related, as in it starts, idles, and runs fine till a few minutes after it is at operating temp, but now engine runs rough (did not do this before), and low power, once it stalls seems that it will not do more than 40 mph. Took it back to independant garage, and now it has a 1391 code. Tech. now says that it is the Cam Sensor, maybe, he's not sure. Basically, he's thrown his hands up, and says he cannot diagnose further. After reading the manual I realize that code 11 and code 1391 are basically the same code, one is the MIL Code (11) and the other is the Generic Scan Code (1391). Description is "intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor". Somehow I feel I've been Bull Shxx'd a lot here! Seriously need some help here. It's the wifes car, and I'm in deep sh t, daily>

although the sensors weren't bad, perhaps the wiring to the sensors is bad. Follow the wires back to see.

The cam and crank sensor run off of each other, p1391 is loss of cam or crank signal. I'd check the wiring in the power distribution box under the hood, pull out your fuses one by one and check the terminals in the PDC. They corrode easily, clean them up. If that doesnt work I'd trace more wiring from the sensors, ck around the firewall on the back side of the engine around the head. Replace the cam sensor lastly.
