88 EX 4 door with 235 KILOMETRES.
I've done 30 000km ( 18 000 miles) over 15 months in this car. The tranny has always shuddered and shook at various times. It gives a shudder like a washing machine on final-spin that quivers the dash and rattles the steering wheel. Usually it starts on uphills. But sometimes the shudder will start up on flats. It comes and goes. It can happen anywhere from 40mph to 70mph. Sometimes I can drive for 200 miles with no shudder at all. Sometimes under moderate acceleration(pedal half-way to the floor) it will lurch and die and then regather then accelerate then stagger and die then accelerate again. Its hard to be sure, but it could be getting worse.
How long can a tranny last once it behaves like this?

cause i want to sell it and I'm wondering if the tranny is had it, is it possible for a mechanical moron like me to put a different tranny on?

Today a girl rang up wanting to buy my car. I took it out to check if the transmission was as noticeable asd it was the other day and after I'd gone 5 minutes up the road the transmission light came on. And stayed on. So I rolled home. So how hard is it to change a tranny? Can I do it? How many days/weeks will it take? Do you have to remove the engine from the engine bay to get at it?
The engine is still strong and smooth, uses no oil, and has 75 000 kms of cam-belt left. Plus I've spent over $500 this last month getting it up to roadworthy status. Any pointers, sites that can walk me through the process? Much obliged.
