Famous F1 owners ...

Taking aside the obvious, already debated and identified cars of Wyclef John, The Sultan of Brunei, Nick Mason and Jay Leno, who else of note owns a McLaren F1?
George Harrison's F1. Eric Clapton, reputedly has one. And the Prodigy's Liam Howlett. Any others out there? If so, which cars?

Yes, the BAND! The F1 that crashed and killed the 3 occupants was on the outskirts of the village where Liam lives/lived apparantly. When locals heard an F1 had been obliterated they immediately assumed it was his car.

it was some dodgy Jersey-based businessman involved in drugs (allegedly........) that obliterated his F1 overtaking on a hill showing off to his lady friend and one other. :loser:

Liam is a calm person and mostly concentrate on the music, he rarely make fuzz around himself.
He also has a TVR speed12 by the way!

did i hear my name....?
cerbera speed 12?
you're sure everyone is talking about the same car?
cos well, there have been two speed 12s from the TreVoR garages....
the first one was just called 'speed12'.
from what i remember, they only built two of these.
what the dude from the prodigy has is the cerbera speed12.
they made them slowly (about 1 per month whilst the books were open).
i dont know why but i keep thinking that the final sign-off number was about 50...
i think i have to make a few phone calls.
as for the original topic of this thread about who owns an F1.
'prince' naseem hamed (the boxer) also had one....
before he wrapped it around a tree....
oh, and my ex-girlfriend's uncle has one as well....

actually, i'm not 100% sure if it's his.
her uncle is/was the sultan of brunei's pilot, the one who flies the 747 that the sultan sits in (and not the one for his luggage, or the one for his family, or the one for his servants or the one taht goes ahead to check what the weather's like....).
for all i know, it might have just been the sultan's.
i have no idea what colour, or chassis.
it just came up in conversation one day that she's seen one of those at 'home'.

well, in his little country he is more or less the head of everything.
there are other ministers and such but they still all report to him as he is the one who passes/makes laws and stuff.
so the 747s might belong to the airline but the airline probably belongs to him anyway...
um, i can ask if you really want to know.
anyway.
i don't know whether or not he travels often but when he does, it is not a small affair.
the last i heard, it was a fleet of 5 747s that came to london.
also, from what i gather, he doesn't just own the 1 F1...
but i'm not sure if they are in his garage cos HE bought them or cos his brother bought them.
(and if they were bought by his brother then they might've been auctioned off already)

thank you for your comments.
He (or his brother) owns at least 6 F1 (1 GTR, 3 LM, 1 GT, 1 road car, ...).
At Louis Vuitton Classic in Paris, one 456 Venice was displayed and I ask me if it is in France always or not. Do you know if some cars are in France ?

the thing is, if it was prince jefri who bought them then they might have been auctioned off to pay back the debts he racked up from more or less stealing from the government.
i have no idea what cars the sultan has.
like i originally said.
all i know, is that my ex-girlfriend said that she'd seen one of those at home.
at the risk of giving away too much info, i can tell you that she studied architecture in london (actually, just outside london...).
in fact, if anyone is from brunei here (aged 23-25), they could probably work out who my ex-girlfriend is and who I am.

well you seem to have corrected yourself on the fact that it wasn't the Sultan doing the spending.
According to some, all of his one off cars are out. I find it hard to believe that all the venice's are out personally.
The 456 Estate is for sale at DK Engineering right now in the UK
and for the last time, the other GT IS NOT IN BRUNEI and he owns/owned more than one road car.

whoa...
where did i say that the sultan bought all of the cars?
i can't really say whether or not they were all bought by prince jefri or not cos i don't know
and the only things that were sold were the things that the prince bought (to pay off his debt).
i.e anything that the sultan bought himself, is still in the garages.
as i said, my ex's uncle is/was the sultan's chief pilot.
all i remember is that he has his own collection which is where she said she saw one.
in any case, you do not have to believe me about my ex.
i know it to be true and at least one person still residing at brunei hall knows who i am (well she's seen me there...).

hmm.. around this forum substantiation of claims is compulsory.. or flaming occurs.
Massive claims without evidence makes the "experts" angry.
I agree with mini on the whole uncle of a friend.. who we dont know the name or anything about, only concerns us if you can prove it.
Like jomo, but some people still thought that was BS.

what exactly do i have to prove?
that my ex-girlfriend is the niece of the sultan's chief pilot?
or that the chief pilot has an F1?
i can give you names but they are going to be pretty much meaningless unless you know of people from brunei.
and the thing is, i have given more than enough information already.
like i said, anyone from brunei of that age and studied in england in the last three/four years can work out who i am.

honestly, is it that important who you are? If so, stop telling us to go search you out and just tell us.
You said the sultan may have owned the F1 in post #15 btw. The sultan wasn't much of a car person anyway.
Also, i'm 99.9% sure that 50 Speed 12 were not made, the number is more like 3 or 4

you(plural) were questioning the things i've said, saying that there's no 'proof'.
i was just pointing out that i have given more than enough information to verify the things i have said.
and about the cerbera speed 12.
i have no idea how many were made as tvr haven't actually said (at least i don't think that they have).
when i first read the thread, that's the first number that came into my mind.
i seem to remember something about 20ish firm orders when they opened the books (in 2002?).
whether or not these were fulfilled i don't recall.
i know of three definites:
silver+red/maroon+blue race car (i.e the show cars) and i also have an image of a very light blue one in my head (anyone help confirm this)

Liam Howlett used to own a white Speed12 with rear wing!
I've checked with a friend of mine who has seen it with his own eyes!
He does not have it anymore.
Keith from Prodigy had one on order that werent delivered.
And I'm certain the number is around 10 Speed12's, 3-4 of the "early" type and the rest with the far better look.

White speed12 with rear wing? Could that possibly be the one that appears in this Top Gear video: http://www.sleepy-fish.com/images/videos/TVRs/Speed12_Clarkson.mpg Which I believe was a race car and can be seen in full livery here: http://www.sleepy-fish.com/images/videos/TVRs/Cerbera_Speed12_on_Track_lo.wmv ???

the white one in the vid isn't the cerbera speed 12.
it is the slightly older 'plain' speed12.
i don't think they actually started the intended production run on them.
as such i think only the one (show car) was ever built.
what the prodigy boys ordered was the cerbera speed 12.

I've checked that speed12 thing with my friend again!
My friend is a DJ with close relations to the band "Faithless" from UK and he was at Liam's place on one occation.
He did not remember the car like the one I showed him in the TogGear vid.
I asked if it could be a Tuscan with wing and he said it was much more aggressive than a Tuscan in looks.
He's not a car nut so he did not notice enough detail to say if it was a plain speed12 or a Cerbera speed12. :disappoin
He said it was quite dark when he saw it and it may have been silver instead of white.
But it definately had a huge rear wing, and it was a TVR!
He also said he was told it was a very rare car with v-12 and nearly 1000bhp.... :screwy:
