14.5psi here I come

So FINALLY I am getting a boost controller and gauge. I've been dying to get up to 14.5psi, and it seems the time has finally come. I'm getting a nice chunk of change from my grandma(thanks grandma) which will put my overwhelming bills of debt on hold for a month...so I'm thinking I'll use a small piece of my leftover cash into a part of my car other than the gas tank. So I have given up on an electronic boost controller for now...4 or 500 bucks doesn't seem too plausible right now. So I'm gonna go with a manual one for now. My question is, what do you guys recommend, especially you guys that have manual boost controllers. I've been doing my research, and read john monnin's review of boost controllers on his site, so as of now I am leaning towards one of those 2 spring mbcs. My main concern is reliability. I don't want the spring to wear out and leak, and I don't want spikes. The sweet thing is I can get a discount from work and they will buy almost any brand for me. So what do you guys think I should get? Also just to make sure...our stock boost gauges are 52mm's right/wrong? I want to put an aftermarket one in the place of the stock boost gauge. Also, hypothetically let's say I have a boost leak? How do I calibrate the boost gauge correctly. I don't know if I am paranoid or what, but I just want to make sure. Lastly, anyone got directions for getting the old boost gauge out, and the new one in. Sorry for so many ?s, thanx in advance.

you will find them extremely reliable and with an accurate guage you will have no problems at all. if you are that worried you can always lockwire the mbc once you have 14.5 psi and thats guaranteed not to move after that. get it on and enjoy the extra boost you wont have any worries.

as far as your guage i would put a pillar pod in you have to remove the complete dash to get to our guages and thats a tedious long job. ive converted my stereo and got a guage under it but you cant do that if you have the stock stereo fitted.

get a pro boost manual boost controller, at only $18 shipped, its a great deal, and i've heard lots of good things. Your gonna get boost spikes with any controller because the spikes has do to with our cruddy wastegate actuators.

Got a link to the proboost mbc? I have to print out pricing info, and then my work buys the parts and gives me a discount or something...I'm still trying to figure it out. But I'm all for discounts, but $18 is damn good.

So anyone got instructions or a link with directions on replacing the old boost controller with the new one, I know I saw it posted awhile back.
Also when you install the boost gauge, do you/how do you calibrate it, or is it just plug in and its already good?

he he, thought you would, i want to replace my broken air vents but its a real big task getting that lot out. the guage will already be calibrated, just connect it all up making sure you get the correct vacuum pipe to splice into and wind up that boost!

be careful with the mbc tho as some of them do wind the boost up quickly and a small adjustment can increase the boost by a long way and as you probably know that can be disasterous so adjust it carefully and slowly in small increments. when you get to the desired boost you can always lockwire the mbc in place if you are worried about it moving but mine has never moved in the 2 years ive had it fitted. hope this helps
