i heard the altima can dust a maxima, but i thought always that the max could always dust the altima. Please someone clear this up for me w/ an explanation. TY

the altima is usually a good amount quicker then the maxima. it weights a good amount less then the max and only makes 15 less hp. the atlima usually runs a high to mid 14 second 1/4 mile and hte 3.5 maxima 6 speed usually runs a 15 flat.

The Maxima was faster than the Altima up until 2002 when the Altima got the same V6 as the Maxima. Now it's about 0.4 seconds faster in the quarter.

ya..so now don't you have the choice of getting a 3.5 or a 2.5 liter engine in the altima?

a 2004 is significantly heavier but for a 2k2 or 2k3 it's only a 45 lb difference between the maxima and altima. a 3.5 se maxima is 3224lbs and the altima is 3180lbs.

also if you look on the maxima forums here (http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.php?p=2676485&postcount=1 ) you'll see that typical times for a 2k2-2k3 maxima is mid 14's with bests posted at high 14's by a few members.

if you want to search through the timeslip database (http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=46) you'll see a few posts like this one (http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.php?p=1474768&postcount=1) or this one (http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.php?p=1218523&postcount=1) of totally stock 3.5's running low-mid 14's; some with timeslips to prove it, some without.

yeah, as far as speed goes...I'd take a 2002-03 max over the 02-03 altima but not over the over the 04 Max.

I personally think the 2000 Maxima was the best one. It had the 3.0L V6 engine still, was quite light compared to the newer ones and handled just was well. Plus i prefer that bodystyle in the Maxima.

Not to mention was about as quick, with slightly better gas mileage.
