im hearing a wierd noise coming from under the hood. its a 94 civic dx. im not no genius but the sound is to teh left of the block, i think its the tranny, it used to make the noise when i was in 1st switching to 2nd. now it seems to have gotten worse cause now its makes the noise all the time. its like a raddling noise. a friend said it might be the pressure plate. cause when i press the clutch i dont hear it all. i also heard throught bearing. any suggestions.

Could be a throwout bearing, my buddy's Vx does that now but he's been driving it hard until it blows up; so it's getting more of a grinding noise to it. But it doesn't make the noise when he's got the clutch pushed all the way in too.

if when you press in the clutch it goes away, i would think throw out bearing. really only one way to find out for sure and thats to drop the trans and take a look. the clutch has springs on it that are surrounded by metal brakets, sometime if you shift too hard you break these metal tabs. you will hear them from time to time rattling around. eventually they get stuck and you cant shift. again only one to find out for sure. i wouldnt think anything more serious then dropping the trans and replacing both.

yeah the throwot bearing was the answer i was kinda getting. i plan to just go ahead and replace the whole clutch, with performance. i dont want nothing harsh so i was thinking of getting a stage 1, i see a good deal on exedy stage 1 clutch kit, r they good?

i got the throwout bearing replaced, and from time to time i still hear the same noise. my pops is a mechanic and he did the change. i had an exedy stage 1 clutch put in, my cousin said the reason it still might be making the noise is because my pops replaced the throwout bearing, but he didnt replace another bearing that is deeper into the tran. ??? im not mechanic so i dont know 4 a fact. i dont wanna make him pull it again, at the same time i dont wanna shell out 400 bucks for a shop 2 do it. any idead where the problem may lye???
