Fan won't switch modes

I'm new around here so please pardon me if this has been posted before. I just bought a 95 silverado and when i try and switch heater to vent or defroster etc, it doesn't always do it. It mostly just directs the air out the heater vents or somtimes the defroster. I assume there is some type of servo or something and a door or "flap" if you will that moves to redirect the air. Anyone else ever have this problem or know what it could be?

Probably a blend door actuator (electric motor that opens and closes the vent doors), when I worked at chevy we use to sell them all of the time.

Any Idea what those run $$$??? I don't even know whats involved in getting to it. I haven't had the truck long enough to tear into it yet.

40 TO 50 bucks if I remember right, and they are a pain to get to.

You will have to drop the whole heater/fan box from the firewall under the dash to get to it. It is a time consuming job. Check your heater core while your in there, any signs of leakeage go ahead and replace it too.

Sounds like a whole lot of fun to me.....err maybe not. Anyways, would a dealer be the best place to go for this part? Or are there some reputable aftermarket dealers out there. Thanks for the info guys.

Being that it is a 95 most parts store should carry it. Call the dealer first and then try to find a good replacement from Napa or somewhere. I would stay away from Autozone for electrical parts but I have been suprised by the AC Delco stuff they have been carrying so it might be worth a call. Try to find it in AC Delco.
