Does it come right back up? So it acts like it is about to stall and then revs itself back up to idle.
Does it do this all the time or just when it is cold.

you have to set the idle speed connection....there is a screw by the throttle body that you turn....you need to grow the timing connection to your firewall and ground the diagnostic plug in the car on the drivers side....it wil be plug 10 and 4 i believe....the directions are kind of vague, but if you go to http://65.54.172.250/cgi-bin/linkrd?_lang=EN&lah=e5b6e148ead4393fc2d661c8648dd7fd&lat=1088435732&hm___action=http%3a%2f%2fmembers%2eshaw%2eca%2fcos tall%2f1000Q%2f its a little more clear, but if you try it and have success let me know because i did, but i obviously did something wrong...

my '97 gs idles rough but when i bought it i was told that it needed the motor mounts to be replaced...it's fine when you touch the gas

i dont think the motor mounts would affect the rpms if thats what your suggesting....but the motor mounts might affect the driving of your car and the noise of the motor from instability...my friends did that...

Could it be a vaccum problem?

check all your electrical and vac lines/connectors actually make sure they are tight lots of times they look like they are but they're actually just barely loose but enough to make the connection leak

the engine doesn't really sound 'rough' it's just that the steering wheel and mirrors have a little vibration to them (until u touch the gas). i've got to put it in the shop for a check-up/tune-up (just got it), reverse lights, and inspection... so hopefully that will take care of it

my next guess would be the o2 sensor because of the white smoke...but that might just be condensation in the morning...if it doesnt persist i wouldnt worry about it....but check out this site and look around for the pics showing you where biss is. I dont understand how it could be on turbos and not on n/t....let us know how it goes! If that doesnt work and no one can figure out the problem....i think autozone does some free diagnostic tests instead of paying 100 @ the dealer

most likely it's covered up by a black rounded seal.. you needa pop that off to see the actual screw.

i know this thread's a few days old but i was just gonna add that my car did that too. i replaced my first o2 sensor and that helped but if your battery went dead for awhile or your computer had a power loss for a certain amount of time, it lost all memory for drivability conditions and therefore has to re-program itself.
