Car Starts but runs bad, dies, & won't start

1983 Crown Vic, 5.0L fuel injected motor, auto.

I had to stop hard at a light and the car started running rough. Almost like not getting enough gas. I managed to make it another mile to work and then it died. When i got off work, it started right up and then began to run rough. Rough enough so that it can not be driven. It has a new Cap, Rotor, Plug Wires, Air & Fuel Filter. 1/4 tank of gas, 40PSI before and after pressure regulator but pressure bleeds off quickly after pump shuts off. What would cause it to run so bad so quickly after making a hard stop. Also, i bypassed the emergency fuel pump shut off switch and still no help. Got spark at coil and at plug, looks like injectors may not be spraying fuel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe when you stopped hard the 1/4 tank of gas sloshed around and some silt in the tank got pulled into the fuel line?

You can look down into your CFI unit and you should see them spraying fuel when you work the trottle. When one of mine quit, I could clearly see one spraying and not the other.

If you have spark, and the fuel injectors are spraying, I could only guess its something like the TFI module in the distributor or maybe the computer??

I can't think of why stopping quick would cause this either. I hope you get it worked out!

ps, a little bird told me that a lot of CFI cars have problems in the wiring at the CFI unit. Give them all a close look, inspect for bad wires or conncetions. Maybe put some sillicon grease on the connectors.

oh! and also look for bad vacuum leaks at the brake booster or the line going to the map sensor. A leak in the map line will make it run like poop or not at all.

edit: wait a minute - you stopped hard - brake booster leak.

In April, I took the tank off to replace the rubber hose from fuel pump to tubing and the tank was clean but i cleaned it anyway.

I disconneted the vacuum line to booster and am getting 14 inches of vacuum and the car would still run bad. I will check the voltage at the injectors to make sure they are getting signal. I manually triggered the injectors and they both work.

may be your fuel filter, or pump??

I already mentioned that the fuel pressure is fine and it has a new filter.
