Ok Found out yesterday after futher inspection that my Gen 4 hotshot header is a piece of shit. For the longest time now my header has been making a clicking noise ever since i put it on. I couldn't figure it out, but as of yesterday i finally had to check out the exhaust because of a giant exhaust leak noise my car sounds like a motorcycle or some shit. a.k.a like shit. So i got under the car and found out that both noises are coming from the Flex pipe. So i'm like WTF i didn't pay decent money for shitty quality. So my question is, can you fix/replace the flex pipeing on a header? Because i can't stand the sound of this. My car sounds like a honduh.

Same thing happened to me, costs 20-40$ easy fix for a local muffler shop.

Well for now i'm shipping it back to Hotshot for them to inspect it and send me a new bottom half to the exhaust.:D Well at least so far Hotshots customer service is good. I'll keep you guys posted on how they handle it. Basically it will cost me about $40 in parts and shipping (exhuast manifold gaskets) to get it fix. I figure i'd rather have a new bottom half then let some redneck here in town fuck up my header. But if all else fails i'll be taking it to some guys that know about Chevys.:flipa: :flipa: .... Thanks for the help and i'll keep ya posted.

That's right, it is.

John is a good guy and tries to take care of everyone. You really should give him a chance before spewing about what a piece of crap he produces.

I have the STILLEN 4into1 and the same thing happened to me. My car would act like it was about to cut off if you slowed down and my car was a little louder than usual. I spent about $100.00 dollars getting it repaired at MIDAS it works fine now.

If you don't want your gen 4, i'll trade you my gen 3 for it, my gen 3 is really quiet! :D
I'd give them a chance though, when i bought my gen 3 i didn't get some stuff with it (AIV plug, etc..) and Hotshot's service was great with getting me that stuff. If they'd make something else for my car (that i don't already have) I'd get it, i'm that happy with their products.

I was only fuming my anger i haven't had this thing but 5 months and i already have to pull it and ship it off. I'm happy there taking care of it but it sucks that all the cost falls back on the consumer yet again. As for the product when and if it ever sounds right then i'll be happy but if it shows up again clicking like it did last time i will be extremely dissapointed. As for hotshot products i will continue buying them becuase the have excellent quality when they are made correctly and yes i understand sometimes things get messed up.

Justin- What are the major differences between the gen 3 and the gen 4 i didn't think it was too different or am i way off base?

Also for anyone else that has the gen4- Did any of you guy/girls experience the clicking noise or any problems with the flex piping like i did because a guy that i met in Phoenix has the same problem with his gen4 which puts fear in my mind about whether i will be getting another clikcing header.... Basically does anyone have this product and it sounds like its supposed to?

The differences in teh Gen 3 and 4 are (i think) the portmatched primaries (to the head), slightly larger secondary, and it comes with copper gaskets (although I'm running metal gaskets, so not really a difference there). I think they said maybe as much as 4-5hp difference?

To correct this again, the issue is not how it's made but rather the flex pipe itself. This is not a part John produces. It's one he buys. IOW, it's a supplier problem. That does make it his problem and he is taking care of it as I understand, but it's not a question of how they are made.

I understand your frustration. I would feel the same way. Just be careful about disparaging someone until you give them a chance to make it right.

Anyway, all I'm really saying is give him a chance to make it right and it's not a matter of his production quality. John is a big supporter of the SR20 community (even owns an SE-R) and is a really good guy.

Nobody here mentioned motor mounts. Worn motor mounts are the #1 causew of broken flex pipes.

If it breaks at the weld, it's a manufacturing issue, if it breaks in the flex itself, your engine is moving too much.

are you sure your car didnt bottom out and hit the flex pipe? i see your car is lowered on Intrax and to my recollection, Intrax dont have very high spring rates. just sharing my thoughts
