I Have A 2001 Grand Am, 6 Cylinder, Just Changed The Plugs And Wires, Put Some Octane Buster And Then Used Some Stp To Clean The Fuelinjectors, Nothing Is Helping. When The Car Is Just Sitting You Can Hear It. When You Give The Car Alot Of Gas It Also Pings Real Bad. Any Suggestions? All Help Would Be Appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

is it a "ping" or more of a knock? if its a knock then its just piston slap, very common on 3x00's doesn't seem to affect performance or engine lifespan.

One lil evap vacume hose the size of a pencil lead was snapped and it made a tapping clicking noise like a cylinder gone bad. I was looking at the engine while it was running found that snaped line and put a patch piece in between air tight and the engine sounds definately went right away. Most finicky engine I ever played with. Too high octane makes my car ping , so does too low octane it sits there idling with a tiny pop ever half second , did some experimenting and found out the high octane fuel was making it behave retarded lower octane pinged but didnt affect engine behavour Im using 89 mid grade and it smartened up after a couple tanks. Im prolly way off for what you have troubles with.
