Yep You Have To Remove The Hubs, Its Not The Easiest To Do Ill Tell You That Much

any one know how to remove the front rotors on a 97 accord SE
The easy way - take it to a shop
The hard way (ie. DIY)
1. jack the car up
2. remove the wheels
3. remove the brake caliper and carrier
4. unstake the axle nut
5. use a 36mm socket to remove the nut (you may need an impact wrench with a lot of torque to get this mother off)
6. unbolt the lower ball joint
7. use a jaw puller to push the lower ball joint out of the steering knuckle(you can use a pickle fork, but you might screw up the rubber boot, and they don't sell it separate from the ball joint)
8. swing the steering knuckle off the axle
9. remove four bolts on back that hold the bearing hub to the steering knuckle.
10. remove four bolts on front that hold rotor to the bearing
11. rotor comes off the back
12. reassemble everything and get an alignment
(don't worry about pressing the bearing apart to get the rotor off, some people have said they have done this. As long as you are able to get the bearing assembly off the car, you can just unbolt the rotor)

this should read "you WILL need an impact wrench with copious amounts of torque to get this $#@%^$(&^$^%@ thing off" lol. i actually had a friend of mine at work standing on the breaker bar bouncing up and down to no effect. had to break out the heavy artillery impact to get that sucker loose.
i had a slow day at work today, so i figured it would be a perfect opportunity to slap some new rotors in my '97 accord SE. WRONG!! once i had every bolt i could find removed, and after about an hour of various prying, pulling, swearing, and head scratching i realised that i didn't know what the hell i was doing, and should seek some technical data. after finding the proper procedure i am shocked at how complex honda's engineers have managed to make a simple rotor change.:banghead:
(luckily i'm an airplane mechanic, so if i have downtime there is a wide array of tooling and equipment at my disposal in the hangar so i can fix my car and get paid for it :) )

As mentioned above it is a huge pain in the a$$, when i did it we had to take off the entire front upright an press the rotor off the hub with a hydrolic press...this was after trying a slide hammer and various other methods but maybe "JimmyzGarage" idea will work since he says you don't need a press...? And it of course will also have to be aligned after that.
as a side note there are several places that can "turn" your rotors while they are still on the car, if the rotors are not very bad this may be an option, but they will enevtually have to be changed as this is only a temporary fix.
