Hi Guys,

Has anyone updated the stereo in the Gallardo with a DVD and screen with possibly a navigation system. I want to put a small camera in the back for parking and view through a front screen. Team Lambo, the racing team in Australia do it in their cars. I want to use the same screen for dvd's. Anyone got any ideas on what would fit in the space and has anyone got any photos of any sound system mods. Thanks

I've never seen the DVD /navigation screen option - has anyone ever seen it? Only read about it in posts in forums. Is it available as an option?
Any pictures?

Recently at manhattan motorcars there was an option for a Navigation screen, but I dont think it plays DVDs. Your best bet for that would be an Alpine screen and 6 DVD changer

My new car is coming with a sat nav system in the central console. Its arriving next Friday, I'll post some photos on arrival. Also I've got the new clear glass engine cover, and I know photos of that option are also thin on the ground too.

Thanks. I wasn't aware the nav system was an option from the factory.

AWESOME! Thanks for the image. It's so much better to get the factory to handle the molding around the system. I have a 360 and all Ferrari's come with shit systems. It's an Enzo thing, as he used to say "the engine sound is the orchestra" which isn't too far from the truth but on the longer trips you gotta have some tunes. Thanks again this is really helpful.

Is that Lamborghini's own nav system, or did they use something from Alpine or Blaupunkt?

Hey I had a 360 too! Your right about the sound track. OK for a while but on a long run you need some tunes. We did the Gumball rally across Europe this year and without music at times we would have gone insane.

From what I've been told its an audi Nav System, which i believe is one of the alpine DVD systems. I'll make sure to let you guys have all the details in a few days......

Just a quick update. My car was delayed last week due to problems at the factory with the new sat nav software. It finally arrived at the dealers yesterday, but has to be road taxed before i can take it/her home. Had chance to get a good look at the system though and it looks really really good! Plus the glass engine cover is real worthwhile option to consider.

Bringing the car home on Monday so ill be sure to post a few pictures up sometime later in the day (once Ive been for a play!).

OK, just got back from my first drive, awesome car! Here are the first few pics, including one of the engine cover. I'll take some of the interior later and post them in the same gallery so they should be up there later tonight.

James, thanks for the pictures, they are awesome. My car got released from Bond/Customs today and is interstate having 'pre delivery'. I ordered the clear hood but I won't get it for a month or so. Can you tell me if this is a factory fitted hood or from an aftermarket company?

As far as the Nav goes there is no software for it outside of North America at the moment, not even Europe yet and especially Australia so Lambo here don't even offer it as an option. I take it the screen folds in and the CD/DVD loads behind the screen, is this correct? Also I see there are other options switches along the bottom but do you know if there is an input for a reverse parking camera? Sorry to ask so many questions but I am having a really hard time finding an aftermarket system and would much rather have a Lambo system; even if the software isn't available I could use the CD/DVD until the software is released. Can you please tell me what is the cost of this nav option?
Thanks again for the info.

Sorry I took so long to reply to your questions. I've been away with the car for the last couple of days putting some miles in before the first service. Managed 700 miles since I took delivery on Monday. This car is awesome. I've had some very quick cars over the past few years, but Ive never had anything that goes so quick round corners. Its literally like its on rails. You turn in further and further into a bend and it just keeps on gripping and gripping. Simply amazing. To answer your earlier questions.....

It was a factory fitted option.

I live in Europe (England to be precise) and the DVD that’s powering the Nav covers the whole of Europe. Your right about the screen. It fold up to reveal 2 slots, which take MP3 cards (256mb each) and the DVD slot. If you chose to not use the DVD for the Nav, you can also play MP3 CD's by replacing the Nav disc with your music one. In the front of the car there is a 6 play CD holder which performs the usual functions.

There are a lot of switches along the bottom of the screen but none of them appear to be suitable to supporting an auxiliary input for something like a camera. However having said that there is a television included in the package which allows you to watch terrestrial television signals so the screen can certainly support something in the way of a camera. Couldn't’t tell you the cost of the Nav option as I purchased my car through a broker and paid above list for it in order to avoid the long delays on getting new cars in the UK. My guess would be around $3000 USD.

Hope this was of some help to you.

Hey James, Thanks heaps for the information. I pick up my car tomorrow from Sydney and I'm driving it back to the Gold Coast which is about 850 Km. I am having all sorts of difficulties with Lamborghini Australia. They tell me I can't replace ANYTHING in the car as the main BUS line (electronic main line) has everything attached to it digitally encrypted and if I remove the head unit and put one like yours in the car won't run. While I think this is half true, I still think it can be done. Once I get the car I'm going to call the factory direct or a dealer in the UK or US and try and get some input from them. It seems the more money I spend on a car the LESS options I have of customizing it after delivery. I'll get back to you but thanks again and enjoy the ride.

Your in for a great drive tomorrow. Have fun and let me know how you get on.

I'll be booking my car in for its first service soon (1500 mile). If you want me to ask them any questions on your behalf, just let me know.

Coast Boy, if I were you I wouldn't worry too much. While the satnav would be nice to have, the driving is the main thing. The standard sound system in the Gallardo is truly appalling, but when the engine demands your attention, who cares.

A rear camera would be handy, but the square rear deck actually makes it pretty easy to tell how far you have to go when parking (unlike the invisible front). A bumper camera wouldn't really help you park though as the width of the car is hard to judge with the mirrors - that is what stops me trying to be too ambitious when parking.

Let us all know how the trip up goes. Some Aussie roadside pics too please!
