Im just wondering what others would rather have to fix up: a 88 DX sedan(auto) or a 90 Si hatch(5 speed)
Sorry but i got the year wrong it is actually a 89 not a 90

Come on now...of course people would pick the Si because it is newer its stick and yea...its a Si... now before me and some more people have the urge to ask you why you thought to ask that question (most people here are pricks when it comes to answering simple questions) I'll ask you...which one looks better? which one is best for what you want to do with your car ?

I like the looks of the 4g4d's better, and I like having room for people in my backseat...but I wouldn't want a dx auto. I like my '90 EX 5 speed.

well right now i have a 4 door but my brother has a hatch he isnt driving and i could trade him but my car looks better than his and ive noticed that you can do more with a hatch but not many ppl fix up a 4 door if that wasnt confusing

I have a 90 auto ex sedan, and it serves me well...
If you're going for a buncha mods, go with the hatchback. Most of the aftermarket parts made for 4th gens are for the HB. Taillights, bodykits, etc.
I had the option of buying either a sedan or hatchback, both for the same price. I went with the sedan because it just looks nicer to me, and i could get more use out of it cuz i carry people around a lot, and it would suck for me to hafta get out and fold down the seat everytime we park somewhere. The sedan doesn't have a whole ton of aftermarket, but it's enough to keep me busy. Besides, if you don't like the Xtreme bodykit, just go with cardboard.
One question you hafta ask yourself is, auto or stick? If you can drive a stick and you plan to do performance mods (which sounds like what you're eventually going to do), go with the HB. I go with the auto cuz i'm a lazy bum (and the civics don't come with dang cup holderz!)
But really, it depends on what you want out of your car. If you carry people around a lot, go with the sedan. If you don't, get the HB. Or if you don't like either one, go buy a dodge stratus with the transmission that fails 2 months after you buy it, lol.

get the hatch, auto sucks.
now if the 4door was a 5 speed i would say take it. driving an auto takes the fun out of it, but if i were you i would sell it and get a CRX... :boink:
sorry fellow 4g4ders ... the CRX is now calling my name..lol

I'd still take the hatch. I used to own a crx and I loved it, but I've fallen in love with my hatchie.

I'm going to say hatch ONLY because the 4d is an auto. If the 4d was a 5speed like mine, I would say jump on it :)

well just wondering but does anyone know how hard a 5-speed conversion is

It's not worth the money. It'd be cheaper just finding a 4g4d with a 5 speed already. Let Autotrader and Ebay be your friends, and I'm pretty sure u can find a 4g4d with a 5 speed.
