Alignment and strut issues

Hi all,
Okay, I have a 2000 Jetta gls vr6. I bought it used in Oct. 2003 with about 43k mi. on it. I now have 65k mi on it. I've had the car in for three alignments and a new set of tires because the alignment has been so hard to maintain. I noticed today that there's more space b/w the left front tire and the wheel well than there is b/w the right fron tire and wheel well. With that in mind, here are my questions:
First, does this mean that my struts need to be replaced?
Second, does the uneven ride height have anything to do with my seemingly endless search for proper alignment?
thanks for any help.

One of your struts maybe worn. Does it make a bouncy noise when you go over bumps? Also, stand over each strut tower, and push down on the car, does it bounce up and down multiple times? It should only bounce once or 2x, any more and your strut(s) are probably worn. Uneven ride height would definantly affect your camber and therefore present alignment issues.
