As so few of us are posting pics now, I took the effort to photograph the Kure Skyline as it sits at the moment.
It will need a few weeks to cure now, so I have moved onto the Calsonic car. I love the stance of this one now though! Very aggressive!!!
The decals went on without a hitch, and the lacquer went on without any drama! I am also carbon decalling the various interior parts now also.

Nice! I could never do any modeling on my vacation. I don't know how I'd do it. Props to you mate. :D

Pulled out my Clarion GT-R after seeing Guiddy's awesome piece, holy cow!! I used to smoke while building models and boy, does this car show it!! Not as noticable in the pics, the car's once beautiful white laquer paint is now a nasty yellowish shade of white. The decals are even worse! All the clear borders are now yellowed. This whole car needs stripping, can I get new decals??

I doesn't even look like it was painted! Those decals did get a rough ride.
See kids smoking isn't only bad for your health! It's bad for your models too. ;)
Oh yeah, go to www.hlj.com and do a search on Skyline in the auto accessories and you'll find more decals than you ever though you'd need. :D

Of course, you'll need to but some kits and junk to offset the shipping charges for the decals... ;)
Looks fantastic Guiddy!!!! :) :) :) Don't forget to go outside once and a while, too... I know it's hot, but I promise you won't melt! :p

OK, here is progress on the Calsonic car now!
Very similar underneath, and I am just polishing the body!
This one will be decalled after completion, as opposed to lacquered like the KURE car!
If it looks half as mean as the black car I will be happy!

I thought the calsonic car was a deeper blue.
Not that it matters as I'm sure that it will end up looking A1

It varies a lot in the light! The flash made it look brighter.

What paint do you use to get the exhaust pipes and the like so shiny? I use humbrol paints and their number 11 just isn't very shiny. :(

I use automotive paints for most components, only reverting to hobby paint for detailing!
The exhaust was sprayed using Vauxhall White Gold.

Just to keep you all updated, here are a couple more pics...
The cockpit. I filed all the detail off, covered it in Carbon decal and then re-did the detail with sliced wiring and photo etch nuts etc, and black wiring for the steering wheel button lead.
http://www.eframes.com/ef-cgi/d/daniel_guidone_ntlworld_com/3300cockpit.jpg
And finally I finished polishing the body! Lots of crevices! The reward for 5 weeks of hardening was a nice deep shine though! These kits start to come alive when you add the wing!

Niiiice! So how long does it take you to cut back and polish a car body usually? I get a lot of orange peel in mine and it take a really long time. :( Maybe I need to work on my painting technique.

Thanks for the comments guys!
It usually takes me a full day to polish a kit, but I will usually break it up over a few days and do other parts of the kit!
The longer you wait for the paint to cure, the better the rewards in the shine!

The Calsonic car is now finished!
I'll give you sneak previews of the pre-decaled car from my website...
More photos of the complete model over the weekend!
