The GT-R is not the only Skyline. It is just the top level model, like the BMW M3 being the top level 3-series.

The entire Skyline family is mostly made up of sporty sedans and coupes, and has been for years. In fact, the first Skyline was a four door.

Nobody in the Fast And Furious crowd knows ANYTHING about Skylines. Nothing about the ATTESA ETS or the RB26....Yet they are still the most overhyped and bastardised import of them all.

The G35 is the Skyline, and they do make them in 4 doors. They have been maken them since the beginning.

The Infiniti G35 is based off the V35 skyline platform that is the current style in japan. They both share the same VQ engines, and basically the same look. GTR, no. Only the basic skyline form in japan is the current style Infiniti G35. In japan, the 350z is referred to as the Fairlady Z.

They sure dont. The G35 has the same suspension, chassis, and I think engine as the 350Z.

They sure dont. The G35 has the same suspension, chassis, and I think engine as the 350Z.

I've had both a 2003 350Z and now a G35 Sports Coupe 6MT. Both are built on the FM platform and are very close to just a 2-seater and 2+2 of the same car.

The engine is the same. There are minor diffs in the intake and some other details, but my base dyno was the same for both cars.

The suspension is nearly identical, but the 350Z is 8" shorter overall and has slightly stiffer inboard springs in the rear wishbone. Shock springs spec out the same but IMHO the 350Z ride is much harsher and not so hot on expansion joints, small stuff.

Changes I would make to the G35 is stiffer rear sway, optionally front, and consider a stiffer but progressive spring set on all four corners with 0.5" to .75" drop at most.

Plus for 2004 all the 6MT leather had Brembo's - not true for 2005 :(

No, they don't. JDM Skyline as of 2003 is the V35, a.k.a. the Nissan Skylne 350GT, not as kickass as an RB35, but still a fun car.

I rebadged my G35, 350GT is more like it compared to a 350Z - it's a 2+2 GT. JDM has option already for AWD on the Coupe, we don't. JDM already has a limited NISMO engine with ~19hp but lots more down low, we don't. Besides the usual NISMO stuff they also plan on a GTR in late 2005 or 2006, no specs yet.

With Infiniti now a brand used outside the US market, I expect they may market the next "Skyline" as an Infiniti G35 Sports Coupe GTR, vs. a Nissan, priced another 10-20k up from the current G35 SC.

IMHO they just need get up to over 325-350 whp, NA or FI, and AWD would make it even more sweet for those of us who say "sh*T" when it snows

i guess the next generation (FF3) will think that a skyline is only a skyline if it can drift.

Yes, Nissan sells the G35 as the Nissan Skyline. It's the base model of the Skyline lineup as the GT-R is the top of the line which only comes as a coupe, awd, and twin turbo RB26DETT engine.

The Skyline shares the same platform, and engine as the Fairlady Z33. The VQ35DET engine is a NA engine that pushes out over 280 hp. RIght now, the 2007 G35 has a 295 hp engine. Pretty nice for a sedan, while the Z33 now has a high revving 300 hp VQ35DET engine.

Nissan Japan sells three models of the Skyline

The V300 sedan
The 350GT Sedan
and the 350GT Coupe.

The VQ35 engines can be found in various nissan cars such as:

Maxima
350Z (Z33)
Infiniti G35 (Nissan Skyline)
Infiniti FX35
Infiniti M35 (NIssan Fuga)

Nissan Teana
NIssan Murano
Nissan Presage

Well put.

Having owned a Z33 and currently a V35 (350GT Coupe) aka G35 Coupe, the corp photos here:

Mine is an '04 took delivery in January 2004, creeping past 28k miles now and over 2.5 years no serious complaints, just a lot of good miles. Brakes (Brembo) and Tires (Michie Ps2's) have exceeded my expectations are are just now pretty much both into their last 20% wear. Running Pirelli snows in the Winter means I still have over 20k miles on the OEM tires...a first for me!
