It is indeed the Revell GTi. I had intentions of following you with the widebody Rieger (i think that's how it's spelled) kit. But today when I picked up the GTi and some styrene sheet, they were out of tamiya expoy putty. So, I used the goofy, but still cool aero parts. I needed to use the flairs because of the wheels I'm using.
Where you planning to use your hood scoop thing? I'm probably going to have to make a new one for the hood to clear my air cleaners for the dual carb 283.

take a look at the all smiles uk golf tuning companys demo car :) the interior is amazing, stripped carbon everywhere, shame i cant find any photos! seen it for sale in redline (uk tuning mag) for £15000 (about $27,241) and worth every penny (cent) of it.
as for the revell kit im a bit confussed by the fact they didnt put out a big bumper for the standard kit (1990 onwards spec look)! looks better on the real car so why not the kit? and there going to be a pain in the butt to scratch build :(

i'm not making any hood scoop, it will be clean (german style :naughty: )
but it's a great idea to put a v8 in a golf :iceslolan
and those goofy fender flares where with the kit right?

And have more style in them, but thats my oppinion.

Yes you are seeing the beginnings. Unfortunately, do to limited room in the front it will look similar to just a bell housing with a little bump on the back thats connected to the diff (kit supplied). The rear, however, will have the full rwd transmission and a diff attached to the side with R34 driveshafts.
BTW, the rear 283 chevy engine comes with optional Supercharger assembly, is this a good idea....

Well, here's the interior. I need to apply the speaker decals and then I can put the seats in. Oh, don't worry about the back of the speaker board, that's going to be covered in aluminum foil. I also dremeled out the hole in the chassis for the rear engine, but I not only made it too deep, but I took out the gas tank as well. Oh well, that's where our best freind styrene card comes in. Also, I painted the front part of the chassis (topside only) and ran outta silver. So, I'll pick some up tomorrow and ill finish fabbing up the rear engine, diff, tranny, and driveshafts and I should be done with the chassis. Also, the color will be Candy Blue i.e. gold base with metallic blue on top.

Do you have a friends who smoke? Steal an empty cigarette pack, and pull out the silver (or gold) foil from inside, and use that. It has a small pattern that looks awesome as heatsheilding.

CAV. Ill do my best to explain it. For the front, I have chopped back the bell housing and added the back of a wheel hub to look like the cadillac fwd transmissions. The kit supplies two half shafts connected to a differential, on the stock block, you'd glue the diff right in front of the transmission. That's basically what I did with the 283. It won't look too realistic, but that's not the point. I just want it to look cool.
As far as the rear, well, I cant fit the full rwd transmission onto the 283 and make it fit. So, I'll so something similar and cover it with a piece of aluminum or styrene card.
Will, that's a great idea for the aluminum. I can get loads of it from Mark.
Thanks for your input guys.

I've done so far:
Foiled rear of interior
Added speaker decals
trimmed gauges in gunmetal
added autometer style white face gauges
installed seats
added front exhaust section
One straight pipe from the front side of the front motor will flow straight to an apexi style muffler. Tieing into this pipe will be the backside exhaust and frontside exhaust from engine number two in the rear. The other pipe will be run off the header on the backside of the rear engine to an apexi style muffler for a dual exhaust.

Ok. Here's my story. With a few budweisers I devised a plan. A golf GTi pickup. Well, it sounded like a cool idea when i started it. I cut the roof behind the sun roof, and chopped the hatch. Now, I sit and stare...this is gona be an ugly mofo. So, i threw it in the box with my R32, SS mustang, Enzo, 57 hotrod, and a load of others i get tired of...
Here I sit and ponder today with the showing of my latest gift, a custom supra for Mark. I expoxied the hatch back on, and used thin brass rods for suport... lets hope this dont fall apart in paint, with my luck it will. So, I thought... every engine should be visible, right? So, i cut the hatch door open today, cut down the door handles, and ran out of putty :( Well, I'm stuck. I can't do any more till i get more putty. This time 4 tubes!
The new plan:
Widen fenders by half a mm
flow the box flares into the fenders
drop the skirts a tad
and wherever the putty takes me
Expect pictures by this coming wednesday

Ok. Well, I had to get another body. The roof did hold together, but um, it got stepped on, so I just ordered another one. Yes, I went bondo crazy on this one. I still don't know what direction I'm going but, here's what I have so far. Im still trying to decide if i like the front bumper or not, I'll probably cut it up and do like a buddy club focus front kit or something. Not much has been happening. I find my dremel with the sandstone grinder bit helps nok all the rough bits of putty down and 150 gets it somewhat smooth. Yea, I know this putty isnt the best, but I don't care, because it's my first big putty project, and well, lets hope its done in 2 years.
