Is Delco Bose really good for a factory stereo unit? Will I lose the "Bose" effects when I changed the stock unit?
Though I like the sound from this stock unit, i wanna have CD too.
Guys, do you think its worth to get a used PIONEER DEH-P6400 priced at $100 instead of getting a universal CD Changer?
Need some input...

Delco bose isn't interchangable with non bose equipment. Each speaker has its own amp where as normal systems has the amp in the head units but Pioneer makes some really good head units. I hae one and love it. You can also look into buying a used Bose CD unit. Good Luck
tacoma man.

When you say its not interchangable, do you mean by you can't use a aftermarket CD player with it cause my 95 Z has the bose amps on it's speakers and I use a panasonic Cd player with mine cause the original factory Cd player quit.

Bose systems don't work with non bose head unit's . The only afterMarket company's that I know of that make Bose Head Units are Jensen and Pioneer but there may be other's., or you can buy a adapter that hooks into your aftermarket head unit but the sound quility on these systems isn't very good or . You can change the whole system speakers and head unit or rewire the speakers to bypass the Amp and go directly to the speaker. Lot of options most of them require mod's

Ok ... I bought my panasonic and installed it myself. After I put it in nothing would play. I bought the wiring harness that goes with the camaro for easy installation. Anyway I rechecked everything and all looked good, so I went back to the place I bought it from and asked the installer what I was doing wrong and he walked out to my car and was explaining to me about the amps. All he did was hook up the power antenna wire which I think might be orange if I can remember, but he hooked that wire to the power wire or the remote wire and BAM there was sound. and it sounds just as good as the factory head unit. I'll go out side in a minute and see exactly what wire he hooked where but as long as you have a power antenna wire coming out of the back of your radio it will power up the amps on your factory bose.

The power antenna has nothing to do with Bose systems working with non Bose systems but maybe he knows a wiring trick to bypass the amps with out opening up the speakers

Ok lets make sure I'm on the same page as you so I'm not talking about something different. I'm talking about hooking an aftermarket CD player and radio up to the factory delco bose speakers with the built in amps. And by doing this any aftermarket CD player will power up the amps on the speakers so you don't have to change any of the speakers out or bypass any of the amps.

I'm not talking about powering up the Amp with aftermarket head Unit because Bose speaker's are only made to handle power comming from the built in amp. The factory bose head Unit generates a very low voltage and over powering the speaker's with a non bose head unit will only lead to you replacing all the speakers anyway.

Did you buy the damn adapter that I had to pay $30 for, it's not just a harness it has a little box.

yeah that got forsaken converter, that isnt necessary. today's head units put out the same amount of power as the factory bose amps, which are only 50 watt amps (12 watt linear amps in 95)...

The thread starter and you need it connect an aftermarket headunit to a delco-bose system.

The Bose sound systems sound good when thay are new, but when they get old they don't sound as good... Also bose CD head units suck, the one in my car has been in for reapir at least 7 times before I bought the car, and it still spits the cd's out when it feels like it.
If I were you i'd re-wire the whole car with new speaker wire, and put in a new deck and speakers. I took out the bose in my old 93 and re-wired the whole car with new speaker wire.

I have a 94 camaro with the bose system but its a tape player, i replaced it and used the antenna wire and only the radio worked, it would not play cd's the tracks play but no music. also only the front 2 speakers and the one in the back hatch worked but not the ones in the back seat.
