I was wondering if anyone in this forum has had any problems with the speedometer. I have a 1995 Honda Civic EX. I think that I checked the right cable on the tranny, but nothing seems to work. While driving, the speedometer will drop to zero, or keep going up and down really fast.
Any ideas?
Thanks

you know that for a fact? cuz it could be speed sensor too. make sure you dont give out uneducated advice without atleast letting the person know you arent positive. too much bad info out there. not saying your wrong.

What is it with you newb......I wont give advice on things I have not worked on personally.......I guess you just like looking stupid......Any as for the speedo prob......replace the speedo head.....And you will be back to working. remove the cluster. then the push in the tabs that hold the cluster together there are 6 of them....The remove the 3 screw holding the speedo in place....then remove the 2 screws holding the speedo head retainer in place. reverse for install.

i dont know why you are flipping on him, he was stating something obvious. there is TOO MUCH POOR INFO out here. i guess you must know everything about cars by your 1 or 2 experiences. believe me there are more then one reason for a poor speedo read. i am not saying your wrong or that it isnt the problem. but i work on cars everyday and i couldnt diagnose a problem that easy without atleast saying check these things first. there is a process of diagnosis he could use before he goes and buys a new cluster.

HAHAHA.........Hes an idiot in my opinion....... I dont care if you work on them everyday. I have worked on them as long as you and most everyone else in here have been breathing.........And a whole cluster is not needed......Just the head...Go ahead and waste time on the sensor......It will be just that, A WASTE OF TIME........Will be curious to see if he follows up with the actual fix.......
Good example of bad advice.....
From Kicker_solo on b16a engine swap
you can cut up your old one and add the shit you need for the new motor, so yes, it is possible, you will however need a new ECU.
There is no cutting needed........gonna have someone hacking things up for nothing........Just because you own a car does not mean you should be giving advice......Obviously he has never done the swap and therefore should not be giving advice on such......

its not a waste of time to cover a few things before you spend money and buy a part taht might not fix the problem. again i never said you were wrong, could likely be rigth but i think its best if people diagnose the problem properly before they just replace things based on what you did. i know mechanics is mostly experience based, in other words most techs know the answer before they even look at the car, that doesnt mean they dont check and diagnose. thats just a bad practise. thats all i meant.
ps. not the best thing to do is drag someone else;s name into this discussion. people get choked about it.
