People who cant properly wire their Cd Player are pretty sad...same with speakers.

can't be better stated sr20.....
the people who are on this board are the ones that do it themselves, but you can walk into any electronics store at any time and see 1 or more cars in the back getting their stuff installed

unless you're color blind like me..wiring your headunit seemed harder than unarming a bomb..I still couldn't do it and had to get it prof. installed but speakers, amps and other stuff is as easy as trying to take your car apart without breaking something.

I don't entirely agree with that Kenwood. Just because someone is into stuff does not mean they should do it. I am into motors but I know my limits and don't try to build my own. There are times when experience and training are something worth paying for. I agree if you have an interest in car audio you should try to do it yourself BUT it can very costly. If an inexperienced peson decides to cut the yellow harness under the dash they now have a 1k mistake to repair. Ofcourse a "pro" can do that also but less likely. That is a different discussion all together. All in all people should just know when they have hit their limit. That is the time to either get heavy consultation from a pro or hire one.

So youre saying if youre color blind it should be easier, and taking your car apart without breaking something is easy?

sometimes it's a pain. my car doesn't give you any signal of what wires do what. you have to find diagrams of the wiring harness online. my friends honda tells you right on the head unit which wires are where. i still do what i can myself, but i can understand someone just going to the store and having it done. especially when places offer free installations with your purchases.

i do everything myself except.. making boxes.. and custom fabrication of kickpanels etc.. im looking to learn tho.. i don't want to pay for $150 kick panels or have people make boxes for me
PaulD

wow ... $150 per kick panel is cheap - most places would be a lot more. The best compromise is Q-forms (usually). Make sure you load the back of the panels with a layer of bondo though, to stiffen them up.
