my friend did that on his galant. it was actually a fuse but the fuse wasnt located in the fuse block. (we had to take it in to find out what the prob was) but thats what the guy told us.

it has to be a fuse. or maybe several. i wired up a
stereo in my brothers trans am and i accidently touched th pos wire to the shifter and it sparked
it blowed the ignition fuse, stereo, lights. do you have one of those testers that checks for bad fuses?

no i dont have one of those... but everything went out, so i figured theres got to be a main fuse somewhere, one was blown but thats been blown, it was for the brake lights, but man its pooring like a bitch here man and the wind is howling like a dman hurricane

well actually the sending unit for the water temp gauge touched it the 1st time.... i guess i am gonna have to trace the wires...

tacoma man.
06-22-2004, 05:20 PM
you are going to have your hands full. try tracing and reconnecting wires that have been cut up.
that 80 turbo t/a is a nightmare i almost have the wiring fixed. got about 10 more wires to put crimp connectors on and tape everything off

06-22-2004, 10:04 PM
by golly i figured it out...i used to have an ameter in there so i just took the wiring from that and hooked it to the volts meter not thinking... well sure nuff i sat down and thought about it and unhooked the volts meter and bam everything worked again, my dad had the ameter directly wired into one of the main power wires

wonder how the 301 turbo will run? i had a 80
trans am my sophmore year of high school but
it was a se. had the shaker hood scoop, 301
it ran kinda slow, need a carb kit and a tune up
bad. i sold it after 4 months and bought a 6 banger
camaro. i was sad and wanted it back and the man
had already sold her to someone before i could get it back. but now i have her back only with a turbo
charged engine and a cut up wiring harness.

ridge_runner
06-22-2004, 10:41 PM
it should be pretty fast.... id love to have a turboed sb

tacoma man.
06-22-2004, 10:47 PM
i dont know even if it will run could be locked up tighter than fort knox. it has sit for 10 years
and had two inches of dust on it. i already
washed it, armorall'd the dash, it really cleaned up nice, with the exception of a few surface rust spots here and there. im going to repaint it and
put the gold decals back on it. then get ban one
put on the rear license plate.

ridge_runner
06-22-2004, 10:51 PM
get a breaker bar and a 3/4 socket i wanna say.... and try rotate it over a few times....

tacoma man.
06-22-2004, 10:55 PM
yeah my brother said he was going to try that too.
im only planning on a stock rebuilt if the motor
is locked up

ridge_runner
06-22-2004, 10:59 PM
yea that sounds good.. you gonna restore it to stock?

tacoma man.
06-22-2004, 11:07 PM
yeah try too. which is the interior looks excellent,
needs a driver side window thats all it needs.
no dents, no rust holes. so i think it would be worth
more if it was restored to stock.

ridge_runner
06-22-2004, 11:11 PM
yea it would... you already have your drag cars.. lol...is the window broken or badly scratched??

tacoma man.
06-23-2004, 03:43 PM
busted out. i guess yearone.com hear i come.
i got my wiring fixed, i worked all day on it put in a
hot battery, all the accesories worked. and guess what.....i changed the oil, put in some restore,
got all the old gas out of the tank, put i some
92 octane and some 104 octane boost and tried
to start it up. it cranked 5 times didnt hit a lick.
so i changed the plugs. she cranked twice and fireed up but ran a little ruff. it smoked like a
mofo, i felt a little confident about the car. so
i pulled out on the road and floored it and i barked
the tires and took off but when it hit second gear.
it started sliping. and i lost 1st too, so all i had was reverse. i backed it back into the drive way. and let her ide for a couple of minutes, the radiator needs flushed bad, and probally a new thermostat.
i couldnt beleive that it ran. all the guages was functioning normaly. so i got my wiring right. my
dad couldnt beleive it. but he rolled in the yard when he seen that the tranny went out. iguess that it set so long that the clutches deteriorated.
