Remote entry question

I just bought a 2002 SE1 and didn't get the keyless entry remotes. The Pontiac dealer told me they would cost $50-75, depending on VIN. I looked and found some on Ebay for $25 for the pair.
Has anybody else bought any aftermarket remotes, and if so, do they work as well as the more expensive OEM ones? Is there anything I should watch out for with the aftermarkets? I have to have the dealer program it as it is, but I'd like to save some $ if I can.
BTW-I've been driving a '92 GT for the past 8 years and had to have another GrandAm when I went to buy a newer vehicle. Love the way they drive and very glad to have found this forum.
