I found this movie interesting when looking around.

Pretty badass if you ask me.

ok so they can take power......i doubt they sound as good as a w7

I know they dont sound as good... Taking high voltage means jack squat to me

voltage means absolutely NOTHING without impedance, that's the most retarded comparison I've ever seen

Shit, I could feed a Shiva 100 volts without it blowing, and I could blow a w7 on 60 volts, all depends on the impedance.

Real world amplication that test does not mean much. It is really for serious SPL guys. But I don't see how impedance is going to change that test? Please explain your thoughts on that.

ive heard them, there LOUD, not as loud as atomic apocolypse X's, not even close (but the X's are for comp use only, not very musical)

they are still a musical spl sub, they make them in pre-fab ported boxes too, so if you got the room, you know the box is perfect

definatly a good sub, its been a while since i heard a L7, they seem louder though, sq is good, but id have to hear both back to back, the 9500 is definatly a worthy competitor

you say not as loud...what kind of numbers are you talking about?

american bass holds the world record for spl right? 174.4? i believe thats using a VFL, guess who makes the VFL for american bass.....atomic audio

the apocolypse x is atomics loudest speaker, you can get quad coils, the ones i heard were dual coil 18's, a 1500 watt american bass amp on each coil (4 total) was much louder than he hit when we went to daytona last year and hit a 152.x with 2 15" massive DMX's. they were only in for about a month before he traded for a different car, in which smaller subs (most likely mtx 9500's) are going in. so we never got it officially tested, but mid to high 150's at least

btw, this is in a gmc suburban, without anything like dynamat, or highoutput alternators and such....it was a temporary system to sell some other products before the car was sold. sold alot of atomic stuff that month :D

So I guess you work for a shop? Where at? I saw a little of the SPL contest at Daytona but honestly it is not my thing and I was busy with my car there.

100 volts on a 1ohm speaker = 10,000 watts
100 volts on a 4ohm speaker = 2,500 watts
100 volts on a 8ohm speaker = 1,250 watts

Sure the 9500 might be receiving more volts, but depending on how it's wired it could be getting half, or even less power than the w7 or kicker

Im glad this turned into a discussion...haha.

Lets face it. The MTX handles more power. I doubt those guys are wiring it any different. Then again, let's assume they're all 12". the MTX and Kicker sub could possibly be running at 4ohm (dual 2 in series) and the JL is a SVC 3ohm. This means if they were all hooked up to the same amp, the JL would receive more power than the MTX.

Also, the MTX has a much bigger voice coil than the JL audio, and especially bigger than the Kicker. Not sure on the MTX, but the JL Audio has only 2-layers of winding material, which reduces power handling compared to 4-layers. Then again, we are not given much information about the test.
