Should parents be allowed to do this?

OK, I know this is not as good a topic as shooting Girl Scouts or giant cardboard boxes, but it's slow in here tonight.
Just wondering what everyone thinks about parents who give their children really REALLY horrible names.

Example 1:
Phrynchezka Simone (http://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery/babypage_view.asp?URLID=8S4A9D8N8U)
(Bonus points if you can guess what conventional name they were trying to spell.)

Example 2:
Urhines Kendall Icy Eight Special K (http://www.newbabynews.net/hospitals/stf33/public/stf33birthannouncement.pl?babyID=h33-440)
(Bonus points for each drug reference you spot.)

Example 3:
Ty"Najee Lewis Scott (http://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery/babypage_view.asp?URLID=5M0M7V6C1Y)
(Yes, that is a quotation mark. Bonus if you can figure the gender.)

I don't think that they should be allowed to but if it something to do with thier culture then it is ok. If it mean's something then that is fine too, but if it is just beacuse they couldn't think of anything else, then no.

The first one is supposed to be Francheska (sp??) (ugly baby by the way...)
The second.....and 8-ball of ice and some ketamines (the kid looks like a drug dealer already!!)

Well... Depends how bad the name is I guess.

But it's a terrible thing to do to a child. I would never forgive my parents for doing something like that. Most kids have a tough enough time growing up as it is without crap like that.

could be worse...

what if your last name was dick and your parents named you anita...or jack hoff or...you get the point

people will look at those kids funny, but those names i just mentioned will get their asses kicked countless times before they reach high school

I post on a baby-name-snarking board sometimes, a woman there knows a lady who named her boy Penis and her girl Vagina.

#2 is destined to be a crack addict. However, all the parents who named those children have already fulfilled that particular destiny.

Your childern grow to emulate the name they are given. You think Lance Armstong would have succeded as Earl Smarm? Nah. Not even a chance.

Every individual is a product of many things. Home environment, locale, and yes even a name. Imagine being the poor schlep who has to explain the quotation mark in his name.

Thank god the law allows for name changes.

You know, you folks could be looking at this all wrong, it could be that the parents are originally from Kendall, Florida and love Ice Skating and eat too much Special K cereal. Shoot, I can't even write that without laughing.

What are these parents thinking. I can see it when the kid grows up trying to get a job interview.

As for the Ben Gay guy, poor fellow. I would change my name if I was him.

I just don't understand how these parents could give their children such horrible names. My boyfriend and I spent countless hours upon hours going through names for our son. Any names we liked, we tried to think of nicknames that could be used. Any names we though he'd get teased or beat up for in school we tossed out. Finally decided on Nicholas. Simple, not weird, or hard to pronounce.
What possesses these parents...........
Bastards.

Poor kids.

in my opinion? no plain and simple...nobody deserves names like that the kids will be made fun of like you won't believe.......I remember a person who wanted to name their kid "Pimp Baby Patrice" all because they watched "Shorties Watching Shorties":screwy:

Just change your name.. If it has symbolism to them, then who cares. If their ok living with names as, dogs, drugs, cars, bullets, dick, jack off, shit, or whatever. All the power to them.. I say good luck, and I hope they have a strong selfesteem...

I don't. There are LOTS of ugly babies out there. I think mine's cute, Karen's is cute, and a few others are cute. BTW Karen, you don't know how relieved I was that your baby was named Nicholas and not Jayden, Hayden, Braiden, etc. 8 of the top 10 boys names at Babycenter rhyme with "ayden". How sad is that?

AWWWWW cute babies all over this place today.... except those in the first post of the thread.

Here's another bad name... The family name was Leer. The baby girl came home with the name Crystal Shanda. Go ahead. Say it aloud.

I also knew a girl named April who wasn't born in that month. Oddness, no?

I remember listening in on some "upper classmen" in High School one day. The one girl wanted to name her first daughter "Bleous" -- pronounced blue. She sounded pretty serious, if you ask me.

Almost forgot one. A friend of mine named her daughter "Allie Love". The father's last name is Payne. It's not the worst, but still...
