GSX Crankwalk

I've heard that the 2g GSX is more prone to crankwalk than the GST. Is this true? I read that it was because the crank was put under more stress because of the AWD, but wouldn't the tranny just take all of the stress of AWD? I don't know. Somebody please help me out with this. Thanks.

Justin

Actually I think this is the first time I have seen this question.. if the gsx is more prone to CW than a GST. Interesting.. but i have no idea :)

Yeah, I read that thing by joewagon and it didn't help me out. Do you think the dude with the GSX that runs an 11.84 would know? I want to know this because I am selling my beloved 1995 GST for a GSX or a 3000gt VR4 and I'm just trying to do some research.

Both 2g turbo cars have the exact same motor. The only difference between the powertrains is a bit of gearing, and of course some AWD parts.

I have heard of more GST's to crankwalk than gsx's. But then again, more were made. It would be interesting to look at percentages that walk.

has anyone here ever had a problem with it, and if so what did it cost you

No aditional stress with an AWD over a FWD.

I had 3 motors crankwalk, but its very rare. First motor was covered under warranty, second was mis-diagnosed so I scamed a new shortblock (installed) for the same 1000 bucks they originally quoted me. Third time was my fault, so I swapped it for a 6 blt and havent looked back.
