Flat Shifting?

Does anybody do this when racing? For those who don't know its when you just keep your foot to the floor when you shift instead of letting off the gas. My friend justin says he does it all the time when hes racing, hes got my old crx HF with a b18c1 in it and a 4 puck clutch and a exedy 8 lb flywheel. Well I tryed it the other day from 2nd to 3rd and it worked out ok but it ended up just making my clutch slip.

So do you guys ever do this? My uncle says he used to do it back in the day when he was a big motor head. Now that I know I can do it without blowing my motor up, I'm going to wait to do it again until I get a new clutch.

So what are your guys opinions?

I've never done it...but a lot of people over on SRT Forums do this when they race their SRT-4's.

it works, but it is *very* hard on trannies, because you are shifting so quick. Be careful especially with d series trannies. I broke a shift fork full throttle shifting back when i had my d16z6... honda trannies are weak.

this guy who built my motor told me if i ever drag race to shift with your foot to the floor and you want to kinda push down the clutch but let go and kick your left foot to the side so the car engages gear quicker than if you lift your foot while its on the clutch...i tryed it out with my old engine and it workes and i did it with my beater S15 Truck and it worked...but the S15 is a lil sketchy cuz it needs new suspension so it hops around when i shift from 1st to 2nd and if its at night time the lights shit off and shit its kinda freaky but anyways...it works and thats how you should race when money is on the line and when you are at the 1/4 mile

thats a really good idea..i have never thought of doing that..sounds like something im gonna have to try..

Unless you have a built up motor you probably wont see a differnce. On my other car I do it all the time but its a stout ass motor with a tranny that will back it up. :( I want a honda with 300hp and 450ftlbs torque
