My '96 Cad' Concourse has developed a sudden uncontrollable acceleration problem. My local dealer literally threw me out of their shop, telling me to junk the car which has 180,000 miles and is otherwise perfect as it came out of the showroom. I need clues to sources of information as to how to diagnose and repair this problem. I also would like to contact others (or their attorneys) who have experienced this problem in ANY cars with computer controlled engines who may be sitting in jail for manslaughter, or paying off huge liabilities from such a problem. I can be contacted at:

I know that Audi shut down a whole line of cars because of this problem, never admitted that it was possible. I have read of others over the years, some involving death, seems I remember one recently involving wiping out a crowd of people on a sidewalk. Cadillac would not even attempt to diagnose the problem. They just told me to 'git'. ...and I did call Cadillac national customer service. What pisses me is that no one else can run those diagnostics. Are they ducking the issue of this problem in high-mileage cars?

Have you checked the throttle position sensor? I had a Cougar do the same. It was a simple and cheap fix.

I was told that might be the problem, but they said they were refusing to fix it. However, after I got it out of their shop, it has not happened again. They fixed it, and denied it, I assume to avoid recording it as a problem. I'm finding every Cadillac shop to extremely rude and insulting since the car was out of warranty. I'm going to drive it another 20K, then make a gift of it to the biggest, poorest ghetto family that ai can find.

Got a recall letter yesterday. Something about a broken fuel piece that could start fires, dump fuel directly into the manifold,or cause stalling. I've tot 2 out of 3.
