Which tails?

I know what half of you were thinking when you clicked this link. "Oh god not another altezza poll." Well, don't worry this is a battle of OEM tail lights. I bought some aftermarket red/clears for my car a few years ago. They have been great to me and all but recently they've started fading (and unevenly might i add, looks ghetto). I'm debating on whether or not to purchase another set of red/clears or just stick the stockies back on (red, clear, orange). I really don't want to spend anymore money on the outside of the car and ESPECIALLY not on tail lights. What would you do? (Don't forget the car has a FULL 99-00 conversion on it)

yeah. someone told me that jdm coupes use the tail lights with amber sides. i've never seen a jdm coupe before so i have no idea if that's true or not.

i personally think the stockies look bad with the orange...thats just me. Luckily the stock 99-00 tail lights came red/clear and i dont have to worry abuot it!

Well, I've always prefered the red/clear look of the 99-00 OEM design over the red/amber/clear look of the 96-98 OEM design...I just hate amber where it can be avioded...besides, as you said, the front is a 99-00 conversion, so it would fit the cars theme to put tails that look the 99-00 OEM design on the back....the red/clear tails.

P']Lets see pics of both tails.

The red clear ones are just that, red on top and clear on bottom...those were found on 99-00 civics. The other ones are red on top, amber on the outer tailights bottom and clear on the inner (trunk) tailight portian. Those are found on 96-98 civics.

here is a pic of the 96-98 OEM 2dr civic tails

although i like the 99-00 si tails (red/black) unless you buy oem ones and fit them, your gonna be in the same boat not to long from now again. one bitten twice shy type of thing. i would get the stock ones back in there. would look great with your new marker lights. plus if you decide later on to lose the orange, just tint it red. easy enough to do.

emerge, just curious....where did you get the red/clear 99-00 style tails that faded from, and what brand where they (if you know)? Just curious so others can try and avoid that in the future.

I'd suggest the 96-98 w/amber, simply because it looks clean, is appealing, but most of all, doesn't draw a lot of noise. I threw on the 99-00 red/clears on my 98 and pitched my stock tails, and I've regretted it everyday since. At first I was like, yeah, these are Si tails... till about a dozen and a half grandmas passed me with the exact same tails. My 2 pennies.

A dozen and a hlaf grandma's pass you with the 96-98 amber tails too....it's a civic...lots of people have em, whether it be 5th gen or 6th gen, so lots of people will pass you with stock tails on there cars...it's no different with the 99-00 tails as with the 96-98...maybe you just noticed al of a sudden when you had them because of the fact that you now had those tails...

If you want my two cents, I don't like amber...especially on tails like that. I wouldn't regert putting them on, I don't think the amber ones look clean, the amber looks out of place. Now the red/clear 99-00 tail,s, those look nice and clean, if you want my 2 cents. Honda designed a very appealing tailight there. Too me, I don't care if there "Si" tails...none Si's had em too...all 99-00 coupes had em, so I could care less there Si tails...to me it's about the fact they look clean...they could be CX tails for all I care...they just look nice...a good simple clean OEM design

True, but I've tended to notice that modified civics rarely have these tails. Everyone has the red/clears or some fag altezzas. I think that was the point of LunchBox's post.

Anyways, I put the stocks back on. I didn't like it at first, but throughout the day, they grew on me. So for now, it's back to the amber corners.
