hey y'all
i already tried the integra forum and they didnt give me much help so i thought i'd post this up in here. if y acan help me, thanx. i had a slight accident the other night and my car wound up in a lake, engine completely submerged...i'm gonna pull the spark plugs and crank the engine through a few times by hand and after i get the majority of the water out i was gonna hook the battery up and crank it and do that for a few mins and get the rest of the water out...after that i'm planning on replacing the oil and oil filter...i've stripped the entire interior and washed it...i was just wondering if any of y'all new of anything else i could do or a better way of going about fixin it. oh yea, its a 92 LS integra, stock. thanx for the help.

I know on outboard motors that weve lost in lakes, etc, as soon as you get it out you need to immendiatly get the water out. what you are going to do will hopefully work for you. just dont let it sit, you need to have everything ready when you begin your work. still not sure how much success you will have but thats the best shot you have. good luck

After turning it by hand a few times to get the water out pour some motor oil in the spark plugs holes and crank it until you see no more oil come out the spark plug holes. Do this a few times.

Oh and next time you see a lake...... turn!!!! :smokin:

lol =)

hope the car didn't sit with water in the cylinders too long... otherwise you'll have to contend with built-up rust on the cylinder walls. the drastic measure against that is take the motor out and apart and rehone the cylinder walls, and put new rings in it. as long as it didn't sit for a while bogged, it should be fine.

oh yeah, and new oil should be on top of your list, cuz now there will be water in it.

That is the definition of optimism right there.

It's probably gonna take more than one oil change, my uncle's Jeep went through something similar after a hurricane, it took about three oil changes to get everything out.
