I was not aware the civic had struts.....Thought it was shocks. On any acct....You can pick up a whole set on ebay at a good price. If unsure about the arms being bent replace them. The suspension on my truck was damaged by a hit and run driver (later caught) and it was eating tires after alignment. To look at the arms (upper and lower) you could not see any visual damage. Replaced both arms and the problem was solved.
Good Luck.

Take pics man. If it is the struts I have a pair of front 2000 EX struts (E Honda, civics come with struts) for sale if you want them.

Hard to say what's all bent without seeing it.
Strut is a shock, or at least a type of shock absorber . . . . .

I have some upper control arms from a 95 civic with energy suspension boot covers on them. Not sure if they will work on the 96.

As jackasssi said, it's hard to tell what is truely bent without looking at it. The best I can suggest if you are worried it is more than the shock/strut is to take it to several shops, have them pop it on a rack and visually take a look to see what needs to be done. If a few different shops look at it, you should be able to figure out what is truely bent and needs to be replaced.
