I use semi-synth 10-40.

Tried the synth, didn't care for it too much.

Edit: synth is better, but it's not quite $2.50 better. =)

mobil 1 advertises no virtual wear after 200,000 miles... i dont kno if "real" oil does that... it makes a bigger difference than you may think... you just cant see the difference visually

Using synth in a 240 costs up to $10 more than durablend, and almost $15 more than regular. If you change your oil every 3000, from 0 miles to 200,000, thats ~65 oil changes. 65x10 = 650

You spend $650 more after 200,000 miles. $650 is enough money to just go buy a new KA =)

Once synth gets a little cheaper (It has gone down quite a bit over the last several years) I will probably swich to it. Durablend will do fine untill then.

its worth it if you upgrade your car... if you do thousands of dollars of work to your engine, then you cant just get another ka that will be the same :screwy:

I use mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and a mobil 1 oil filter. Its only like $40 an oil change. I don't mind spending the money on engine insurance. When I first got my car and looked under the valve cover, the cam lobed were kinda worn it looked like. After I had been running synthetic for a while, I pulled the valve cover off again and the lobes didn't look worn at all. So I say its good shit and wouldn't use anything but Mobil 1. Stats are better for Mobil 1 anyways. www.240sx.org under FAQ.

I get Castrol GTX 10w-30 oil for summer, changes according to season. 10w-40 when it gets into august. I use only the stock oil filter, heard that is the best one. synthetic is better but I don't think it's worth the extra cost. Not to mention if you have an oil leak, it will leak twice as much b/c it's so thin. My friend's firebird he said it leaks a lot, but when he uses normal oil it doesn't, just depends on the condition and how old your car is.

^^same here, when my car was running, that shit was good enough for my turbo engine. Its funny how many people get the synthetic oil and think that car will go faster, common sense here people!

yup that Mobil 1 synthetic shit really is the best.

hey and while your at it about oils, don't forget OIL FILTERS!

a lot of people just get whatever on there but this is perhaps more important than the oil itself you have to understand. PureOne is good, Fram is shitty, I know they got all those good advertisements on TV but don't trust places that advertise a lot. Really the top of the line oil filter is only a couple bucks more, so what you had to pay 5 bucks for an oil filter instead of 2 bucks....

wise investment

I usually get that Mobil 1 oil filter because it is designed to work with synthetic oils and because its Mobil 1. If not, I get a K&N.
