Will vtec activate with oil jet?

Ok I did a mini me setup a couple of weeks ago. I have vtec wired up and when it ativates I can't feel a difference. (I can activate it at idle and hear it click, once higher in the RPMs when it activates it just makes a little click sound but that's it) Plus I can't break 6k/100mph in 4th gear.
I was thinking that maybe the mech didn't take the oil jet out of my A6 block like I told him to. Wouldn't this cause vtec to not activate? (I know that if vtec isn't kicking in then I am running out the other lobes on the cam and that's why it won't break 100ph) Also this would make my oil pressure really high? Could this damage anything or be causing it to bog down?

if the oil control jet is left in the block, then no, VTEC will not activate.
It would't make your car hit a brick wall, such as not being able to pass 6k rpm or something, it just wont pull as hard in the upper rpm.
If you're not sure if VTEC is activating, then you can try this... If you have the solenoid hooked to a switch. Only when the car is completely cold, i.e. hasnt been started in hours, start the car up and hit the solenoid. the higher oil pressure combined with high idle should make the car lope, or atleast drop idle a bit, sort of like a big v8 lope. if you still hear nothing, i would suspect the oil jet in the block.

Dang your the only one who ever responds to my post. Thanks for all the help for real dude. As soon as I get a timing light I will check my ignition timing like you said. I went to the track last night (only had time for one run) and pulled a 11.5 in the 1/8th. Thats crappy for a A6 bottom, Y8 head, with port and polish job and over sized valves. I should be doing a lot better than that.

:O
something is definately wrong with your setup :(
and like always, im always willing to help out another 4g owner :)
how sure are you that your cam timing is correct? I've noticed with past setups i've had (with the newer style y7/y8 cam gear on d15/d16 bottom ends) that sometimes your timing will be 1/2 tooth off and that will make your car rev limit at a lower rpm, normally caused by the cam timing being advanced too far. could also be the cause for your lack of power.
if you wouldn't mind, post your whole timeslip..

How would be be a half tooth off? its in my car, I will get it an post it tomarrow. I will try to take pics of the cam gear and where it is set. Right now I have it set back too +2. I just wonder if when the guy did the timing if he used the jumper.

It all depends on your MPH. MPH in a time slip dictates potential, ET dictates traction. I ran a 9.3@83mph in the 1/8... 9.3 is okay, but 83mph says i should be running about mid 8s..
with your setup, i would guess you should be running low 10s. I hit [email protected] with my d16z6 with i/h/e on steelies with a 2.3 60'. I broke 9.9@71 mph with a b18a, on the same steelies with 2.3 60'. with my mini turbo setup, 9.3@83mph on road race tires, 2.3 60' didnt get traction until 3rd gear.

Found it! Ha Ok here are the times:
R/T .032
60' 2.191
330' 7.859
1/8 11.556
MPH 60.85
My friend in his stock integra ran 12.079 at 58.90. Thats a 2000 integra non vtec. I should have ran a lot faster than him. I was on 17" Exel racing rims with 205/40/R17 Kumhos.

all i can say is... holy shit.. are you up high in the mountains or something? 60mph is about right to be running 11.5, and 2.1 60' is pretty damn good especially for 17s..
your cars should be running a lot quicker than that.. do you have an HF tranny or something?

Nope, pretty sure it is the SI tranny. It was completely stock when I got it except an intake. Like I said with the A6 it seemed faster. I ran a 14.4 with the a6 ( first time I went to the track and over reved, spun all the way through second) and still ended up with a 62 MPH with just intake and exhaust. This setup should be a lot faster, I can't figure out why. Unless the timing is just way freaking off.

Well I have the A6 plugs/wires in still. They don't seal all the way, and tend to work their way out everynow and then, but that shouldn't have anything to do with it should it?

man those times just sound very very slow to me. around here, i've seen bone stock automatic cavaliers run like 11.1... :(

I didn't spin at all when I went the other night. With the higher compression, vtec, and port and polish job I should be in the low 10's very easy. I can't figure out what's wrong. I guess I need to go buy a timing light....probably something stupid that's holding me back.
