i have a 90 teg, after i put in a short ram intake my idle got really low, so i messed with the throttle cable to up the idle, didnt really work though. so i turned the screw on the throttle body to up the idle, that worked, but ever since i did that i can smell gasoline and im getting alot of dark smoke coming out of my exhaust, not completely black, but pretty dark. so im assuming im burning too rich, how can i fix that ? because now when it warms up, its hard to start it up again if i turn it off, or does that not have anything to do with burning too rich ?

Many will argue that putting an intake on a car is pointless without adding a exhaust also. Just think about it....whats the point of adding more air if you cannot get rid of it just as fast. Try unplugging your ECU for a couple of minutes and re-plugging it in and see if your car still smokes. I know my ITR did when I put the CAI on. The only other thing to do is get a "piggy back" AF computer like the SAFC and a wideband O2 and adjust your fuel...probably about $800.00 plus the install or add an header and exhaust....probably a lil more, but you will inevitably need them all

your rigth, sounds like ur running rich cuz of the black smoke. did u try to turn back the idle on the throttle body. thats the first time ive heard problems with the idle while adding an intake.
when i did a custom cold air intake on my friends accord, his idle went up pretty high, about 2500 rpm. then after letting the car idle for a while, it slowly went down to about 800 rpms. the cars ECU needs to get adjusted to the new intake and more air getting into the engine. turn back the idle screw to where u had it before. then reset ur ECU by removing the 7.5 amp back up fuse under the fuse box of the hood. take it off for about 10 seconds, then put it back in. start up ur car and dont touch anything... dont give open the throttle., after a few minutes take the car out for a spin then see how it's acting up.

oh and if u wanna get an apexi safc that would be helpful too, but theres no way its gonna cost u 800 bucks. its around 200 to 300. i got mine from a friend for 150. it's a pretty simple install. im not sure how much the wide band 02 sensors cost, but i dont have one in my car. u really only need that if u wanna go turbo and need all the tuning capablities
