02 gauge faces in a 01?

I noticed from the pics of 02G20T's (sweet) new ride that the guages for temp and gas level have their centers about level with the speedo and tach centers.

in my 2001g, (from memory, so who knows :smoker2: )
the *bottom* of the temp and gas gauges are level with the *bottom* of the speedo and tach gauges.

so does anyone know for sure the 02 face will fit in the 01s place?
I imagine the gauge faces as one big sheet, with the four circles on layed out on it.

thanks,

not sure on the different positioning...

but most likely you cannot get just the faces. you will have to buy the whole gauge cluster which just gets screwed in place and the back has a connector that connects to your ECU. the connector should be exactly the same as nothing has really changed or been redesigned (functionality-wise).

this is what I mean by gauge cluster.. (picture is not from a G20, just an example)

thanks boogie....

the cluster, for some reason, seems like it might cost a little more than just the faces.

Anyone have any ballpark figures for a 02 cluster?

I'm guessing a few hundred bucks, which means I will have to wait for the new gauges.

I'd rather get that front lip from wingswest.
well...I don't know....it's a toss up between the two.

damn... now I'm more confused then before...

yeah, probably somewhere around $300?

I'd go with the lip first anyway ;)

i took a short break and dashed out to my car and did notice that the gas and oil temp gauges are placed slighty higher on the 02 models? Ihave a 99 btw..
anyway, i checked with the dealer and list on the cluster is $270 i believe....not TOO bad

and I confirmed also.. on my `00 the gauges are all aligned on the bottom...

Is it much of a job to re-move the gauges.

Any pit falls etc ???

Would like to be able to get some white face one's into mine.

i know removing the cluster is pretty simple... just a few screws, and the ecu connection. now, getting to the actual gauges inside of the cluster is where it'd be a pain, but you wont have to go that route if you get the whole cluster.

thanks for the pricing checks guys.

I guess it'd be worth droppin by the local dealer to find out how helpful they'll be.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I own a '01 g20t and want to have the '02 gauge cluster installed. I've called my local infiniti dealer and he said that the '02 gauge cluster might not fit/work with my car. So I was just wondering if any of you guys got this done and how did it work out? Thanks.

:o Well I took the guage cluster apart on my wifes G20t it wasn't that hard to take out very easy.

1 thing you have to remember is that when you take out the gauges you have to have them recalibrated when you put new ones on I did this in my old Eclipse & it was always off by 10mph.:bloated: Just some 411!
