using a V8archie kit, how well do you think a supercharged LS6 would fit in a fiero? how could you not like 500HP... It'll have a hefty price tag but that's why it's going to be a couple years till it could get done. Just let me know what you guys think if it's do-able, would love to have a one of a kind fiero.

Anything is doable. Do you have the money to do it? :2cents:

Check V8 Archies price list for the master kit.$5K (I think), then the engine cost ?an LS6 ain't gonna be cheap. Unless you've done it before, you should be getting some professional help. If you have a qualified Fiero mechanic do the work, I'd getting ready to fork over $12-15K.

You may want to consider upgrading brakes, cooling, suspension and once that is done have the car made pretty with interior, paint wheels etc. A professional paint job will be $3500 or a Maaco crap job for $279.

You better do your homework on costs, because it will cost more than you think and take longer than you want.

Cooling and suspension are serious issues.... my opinion has always been go 6 cylinders on the smaller cars... you can pull off 500 hp from a 3.8L fairly easy and probably stay under budget.

A stock 3800 SC puts out 240HP at 5200 rpm. You'll need to a lot of tweeking to get 500HP out of that and keep to a reasonable budget!

what u should do is stay with the 2.8 and have the engine rebuilt pt low compression pistons in and put twin turbo's on it u can pump out just as much horse and itll be cheaper and u wont have to change suspension and all that crap so u might be better off goin with turbos

I would suggets swapping in the 3800 sc and build it up some more and crank the boost up. The only reason I would pick the 3800sc over the ls6 is the 3800 gets 30 mpg and the ls6 gets 17. So the 3800 gives you v8 performance with 4 cylinder economy.

You must not have a clue of what 500hp in a fiero would do. You would do wheelies and thats not cool for the car when landing.

The error in your train of thought is that the LS6 gets 17 mpg in a camaro or corvette, each weighing more than 3400 lbs. The fieros weigh anywhere from 2400 lbs to 2900 lbs. So you can expect economy anywhere from 20+ to 30+ if it spends its life at low rpms on the highway.

As far as an estimated ET is concerned... most V8 Archie cars run 13.7s with semi-upgraded cast-iron small blocks in them so if you put an all aluminum v8 into the fiero and keep the weight of the car close to stock while more than doubling the horsepower then there is a good chance that the car will run mid 12s. And that is with a STOCK LS1... if you put a bigger tire on it and you learn how to drive the car then I'm sure high 11s are within sight.

Now somebody please tell me what is the point of putting an LS6 into the car AND supercharging it when you've already got a 12 second car with a STOCK motor??? Not only will the blower kill your gas mileage but you will also have ZERO grip going through the 1/4 mile. Sure the fiero is a mid-engine sports car but seriously... with SO much power in so light of a car you WILL not be able to hook once you hit 2nd 3rd and even 4th for that part.

I say just put a stock LS1 or LS6 in it and fine-tune the suspension to where you run the best times. Then if you're still hungry for power and want to keep your fuel economy reasonable go with the cheapest, easiest, most logical upgrade ever made for the LS1/LS6... Nitrous. The stock LS1 can handle a 125hp shot on a STOCK bottom end any day of the week and you can even up-jet it to 150hp if you're feeling lucky and its a good, cold day so your pistons survive.

Ok I'm done babbling, somebody criticise me now

You fail to relize that the ONLY way the vettes and camaros get 17 mpg is because of the 6 speed tranny.

As far as hp goes a v8 is devastating in a fiero and if that ain't enough I would also suggest a 125 shot.

I want to put the caillac cien xv12 northstar in a fiero, that's 450tq/750hp :iceslolan :iceslolan :screwy: :smokin:

 that doesn't make any sense. More gears means more effieciency in those cars. The Camaro SS can be doing 90 mph in sixth gear at only 2000 rpm how is that inefficient? My Maxima is at 3000 rpm at 80mph in 4th gear (overdrive) and I get 25 mpg. Almost any car can be efficient if you don't "hot rod it" around and let the rpms stay down

Supercharged ls6's with No2 systems in a Fiero.... I'd love to hear where you found a transaxle and CV shafts to hold up to that kind of abuse. Might as well save yourself the time and money and just duct tape a Fiero body onto a nitro burning funny car. I'll send flowers providing there's enough left of the body to have a funeral.

Yes you are right you are confused. I was saying that the ONLY reason they get 17mpg is b/c of the 6 speed tranny. If it had a 5 speed the mpg would be less. If 17 mpg is effeicient to you then hoorah, but for ME 17 mpg ain't gonna cut it.

LS1 and the LS6 are roughly the same thing, this might answer some questions.

Different block, intake, head desighn, and cam. If you want 345 hp go with the LS1 if you want 405 hp go with the LS6... both stock numbers. LS6 cam has a better torque curve all around, LS6 heads supposedly flow better than the LS1 heads, and the LS6 intake is definitely a must: combined with a comp cams cam it will raise the output of the LS1 to the same level as that of the LS6
