Here in sweden its pretty much the v8´s that rule the earth when its dragracing we´r talking about. No jap shit can even come close to performing what the supercharged v8s here do.

Now a girl from america is here visiting a month and she said that most ppl over there race rice boilers?
wtf? :|

Can someone get the facts straight for me? :)
Wich cars rule the racing scene over there?

And also i hear that using a automatic gearbox is considered cheating? haha :) I find that kinda funny since you got more potential with a stick shift. Alot of talk about "fairness". Here we are more like, if you got a faster car you got a faster car. Equal terms? Build a faster car instead! :)

Feed me with info please :)

yeah muscle cars are in, but they arn't ruling the streets, I drive about 80 miles a day, street and freeway, in CA where winter isn't a problem and I see about 2-3 muscle cars a week. riced out civics? to many to count.

Yes what you heard is very true... In Canada the old massive muscle cars are seen and given enormous respect, all you really do see is ricers, most of which have an intake, exhaust and body kit (giving their Civic an extra 7hp). If you pull up in a muscle car you do get instant respect, but the ricers do control the racing world

The rice rockets are only popular because they are inexpensive and available used. Decent traditional V8 cars are all getting older and more scarce and expensvie. The young auto enthusiasts can't afford them so they take an interest in the little cars they can afford.

At the local tracks, the "street night" events are knee-deep in Jap crap. Most of them are driven by young bucks out to prove a point. At the end of the night, it usually comes down to a couple of older Camaros or Firebirds, with an occasional Mustang thrown in for good measure.
On race days (all cars welcome, not just street), there are almost zero imports. The racing classes are totally dominated by V8 cars. Some are later models than others, but it's true, the muscle car era stuff rules.
We see the occasional fast (truly fast, not just against others of the same) FWD ricers. Just as in the movies, the youngsters point at them and say: "See! I TOLD you the Hondas run!" What these inexperienced youngsters don't realize, is the expense of building a Honda engine that makes over 400 horsepower, and maintaining it. One can spend upwards of $7,000 US to get that kind of power, and it may last a couple of outings before a refresh. For the same "investment", one can have a 600 horspower big block Chevy that will live 5 years under racing conditions.
In short, don't let the views of a college kid give you a misunderstanding of the car culture in the USA. Only the "kids" are into Jap crap.

The fastest front driver I've seen was a DSM running 11.20's. An auto trans buys you consistency, but stick is more fun.

Amplify, you mean the "fastest normally aspirated Supra in the world", don't you? I know of several in this area that go in the 9s, but they have the turbos and/or nitrous. And the quickest ones are the older (late '80s) ones with the longer rod "straight" 6 cylinder.
We did one Mitsi 3000GT (AWD) that went 9.20s. It was stroked to 3.3 and had a BIG turbo and a 200 hit.

here in vegas you see a ricer on everycorner but if you go to the las vegas drag strip its nothing but muscle that go far (with the occasional import) most kids would rather have a muscle car but dont have the patience to save their money and look for a couple of months for a muscle car. at my high school (a tech school) all the kids drive ricers but me and we have the occasional street light contest and i have yet to lose but i still dont get shit for respect from them and it pisses me off

I saved my money spent the time to look then noticed my baby sittin under a tree. Now im saving my money to do everything that i can to it. i give absolutely no respect to the so calld ( rice rockets ) i see muscle cars or old cars i give them a thumbs up.
