HEY EVERYONE!!!!

After much delay and searching for a car, my dad feels as if he has found me one!!! I know what your thinking, why not just buy one yourself, well quite frankly, im not a spoiled brat or anything like that, i have had a job since i was 14. I know what it is like to work for things. In fact I pay all my bills. And yes, i have bills (im 20).Anyway, i work to pay for everything i do and i also go to school full time. Well, I am going off to Athens, GA to go to UGA next fall and I need a new car. So my dad told me he would help me out with finding one and the payments. Of course insurance is all mine and gas and anything i want done to it..blah blah blah.
Anyway, my dad just rented one of our duplex's out to an old lady that has a 94 dx coupe, and she wants to sell it!!! So my dad is trying to get the hook up!! I am soooo excited! It is everthing i am looking for in a civic! The only thing is that it does not have power steering. So can anyone tell me how much of a problem that is for someone who is used to power steering? And if its is a huge prob. could someone tell me how much it would cost to have p.s. installed on it. Thanks everyone!

Also, tell me what ya'll think about the 94' civic. I'm interested in hearing everyones opinion.

Holla!
J.

i have a 95 dx, so it's the same as yours, except it's a DX SE, which means it has power steerig and air and stuff.... personally, i like the car a lot, but the engine, thats gotta go, either an SI engine, or a b16a, from the SiR...

good luck on getting the car

cheers

Congrats Dude, I love the 5th gen civics. I drove a non power streering civ hatch before, and it was not all that bad. But, that is a sweet car, have fun with it!!!

Oh, and no clue how much it cost to add power steering.

It really isn't such a big deal. No PS gives you a better road feel and shorter turning radius and you don't have to worry about overloading the pump. You need to use two hands when going below 5mph and turning.

ok? so what is overloading the pump? I don't know much about PS and im trying to find out all i can. If anyone knows any good sites about the 94 civic then lemme have em. I have always been a 96-00 fan, but this deal i cant turn down. thanks

When you turn the steering wheel of a power assisted car ALL the way to either direction and you'll hear a slight whine. That's the power steering pump working at 100% load. It's reccomended you don't hold the wheel in this position for more than 10 seconds at a time or you might blow the pump.

That was part of the comedy routine of that english transvestite comedian. But for the life of me, I can't remember his name. Funny as hell tho :)

Actually Rene you wanna know whats funny, I thought not having power steering would suck ass, but when I drive grams car, the car feels ALOT heavier in the steering then before I drove w/o power steering in my car. I dont get it... its not any differant really unless you are going slow, and even then its not hard, just turn the damn wheel

not having power steering isn't going to bother you that much at all, the power steering is out in my '78 Dodge Truck and it's bareable. And that's a HUGE truck, your little civic isn't going to be that much trouble. Besides, that's more engine bay space to play with.

ok, now i am getting kinda worried.....
I looked up the specs on a DX and it has only 102 HP!!! how suck is that?! Anyways, what would be better? Get a new engine or soop up the stock engine? Notice that when i say better, i mean cost efficient also.

Also when you what do you mean about the engine bay stuff?? What all would i do with it?

Don't worry about not having power steering because I was so used to having power steering then I got my civic and put a JDM B16A in it and EVERYTHING came out of my engine bay, Powersteering, Air Conditioning and Cruise Control and alot of other little things. At first it is a little odd and you definently have to get used to it but I actually like it alot better without powersteering, Except the only problem is when I get into a car that has it and I over do it a little. Good luck with getting the car.
