I was just wondering, if there are any Ferrari F50 transkits out there produced, like the one with the big rear wing and the black 5 spokes wheels?

Thanky for any information on that!

MSM Creations is coming out with a transkit for the F50 GT using the tamiya kit as a donor. Its due out anytime... I have Kevin at Strada Sports notifying me when its available....

Hi all,

Just got my MSM creation transkit. I was a little disappointed with it though, as it seems MSM have decided to convert the Tamiya kit into a curbside model. I found that this made the transkit a very expensive purchase. I will try to make full use of Tamiya's excellent engine, so will have to undertake a lot of modification of the rear end using the original kit parts.

My rating 6/10 :disappoin

I did not see your review. There is no need to be sarcastic!

I thought that other fellow AF members would appreciate an additional opinion in any case.

In the past this was produced in 1/12th scale to fit with the Tamiya die cast. I have one and the casting quality is good but I'm not sure of the fitment. Check it out,,,http://www.autoplacemodel.com/product/prod_20060201_f50gtcomplete.html

I've received a F50 from tamiya yesterday and glue a maximum to check if the transkit was fitting ok. And the answer is YES. Just need some sanding here and there but it's definitely good. Just remove the exhaust pipes, and everything is conceived for using the tamiya parts without having to recut everything. Anyways you only see the interior the rest is hidden.

I am debating picking up this kit for the 60 Years Group Build.

Brian,
How hard would it be to remove the rear bonnett to show off the engine?

I'm very glad for you!

Dave, the lid is separate, it will require quite a bit of cleanup inside, and some scratchbuilding too.

The resin in the 'B' pillar area and the rectangular panel directly above the engine is super thick. It would take a lot of careful milling to thin the resin enough so that the engine cover could be cut free. Not an impossible task, just a lot of time and patience.
