Four brewery presidents walk into a bar. The
guy from Corona sits down and says, "Hey, Senior,
I would like the world's best beer, a Corona."
The bartender gives it to him.

The guy from Budweiser says, "I'd like the best
beer in the world. Give me 'The king of beers,' a
Budweiser." The bartender gives him one.

The guy from Coors says, "I'd like the only beer
made with Rocky Mountain spring water. Give me a
Coors." The bartender gives it to him.

The guy from Guinness sits down and says, "Give me
a Coke." The bartender is a little taken aback,
but gives it to him.

The other brewery presidents look over at him and ask,
"Why arent't you drinking a Guinness?"

The Guinness president replies, "Well, I figured
if you guys aren't drinking beer, neither would I."

I'd have to agree. :o I liked Extra Dry the best. Even your cheap beers (ie: VB et al) were loads better than American cheap beers.

Nearly all the beers in the top row there are worth a drink. From the bottom row, I'd go the Cooper's first, new second, VB third and give the Carlton Cold away. ;)

Happy drinking.

I didn't particularly like Carlton Cold or Coopers. I liked VB, then New.

I was very disappointed in Crown Lager.

VB and New are the most common beers in bars near me. They're both drinkable, neither preferable. Coopers is pretty damn good (all natural ingredients etc), agreed with the Crownies. That stuff is so overrated.

Oh man, those coldies are so nice and smooth. I got pissed really, really badly in april of 13 of them, and i threw up 6 times (so I was told, I only counted 5)

I HATE VB with a passion.
And I quite like a Hahn premium light after I get home from work.
However, although I hate VB, I LOVE VB on tap. It's beautiful. 5 of those do me no good. :D. I only hate bottled/canned VB.

Carlton: Brewed in big, metal, things. :lol2:
(tv ad for the carlton beer)

I'm currently brewing Coopers, but after my next back I'm going to Morgans, they seems to be better.

IMO

James Boag, Cascade, TEDs[tooheys extra dry], Little Creatures and crownies are the best Aussie beers..

VB/EB/etc are good as well [better on tap] and do the intended job of getting the recipiant pissed!

carlton cold = favored drink of the illegally drinking youth.

import beers are the shizzle, elephant beer = good sh1t!

Its an acquired taste. I have also heard Guinness tastes like crap in America and abroad in general. I have tried while away and it just doesnt taste the same as here. Not sure if its that its not kept cool enough or the way its poured but something is not right.

guinness is my fav drink, its the smoothest beer in the world. mmmmm

Hate to be an ass and correct you and everyone else who calls it a beer but Guinness is not a beer its a stout.

Funny joke though

Hate to be an ass and correct you, BUT STOUT IS A TYPE OF BEER

There are 3 styles of beer
1) Ale
2) Stout
3) Lager.

*sigh*

Are you not from Ireland? You should know better!

don't forget combination style beers!

and back on topic (kinda) american beer (term used loosely) from the big distributors is in general flavorless and badly made. Almost all annheiser busch are a joke. corona is even worse, I would consider it the beer that beer haters love, only because it barely has any bite and it barely has any flavor, its like drinking alcoholic water.

Guinness is a great beer but I prefer stuff with a good combination of bite and flavor. guinness tends to have alot of flavor and no bite. beck's for example is the complete opposite has alot of bite but not alot of flavor. Beck's oktoberfest is good though.

Anyone ever try Ayinger? that is great but very pricey.

This is kinda one of my hobbies, I love weird and unusual beers I have never seen before, whenever I travel I alwasy stop by a beer distibutor to pick some up that I haven't tried.

Damien
06-22-2004, 10:40 PM
^Meh, every party I got to has hard liquor. Besides, if they don't have it, I go for the weak stuff, malt beverages, but won't touch beer.

Besides, when you're too young to buy it, cost means nothing 'cause there's only a few other ways you can get it...

Hate to be an ass and correct you again....but over HERE (Ireland) Stout is not considered a beer. If you asked a barman for a beer here, he will offer you Bud, Heineken, Carslberg (the 3 main on tap beers served in most bars). And yes I am from Ireland, I am Irish, born and raised. As one person commented to me I must have been born with the tri-colour wrapped around me.

-Davo
06-23-2004, 04:40 AM
No offense, but if you Irish think that stout is not a beer, you should come to Australia, or China or somewhere (not America, you'll get shot because you talk differantly from them) and get some education.

I'm a fully trained, and licenced bartender, and I know my piss. Guinness is a beer. It's a stout, which is a style of beer.

What are you doing to tell me next? Coke isn't a carbonated soda?

P.S. I don't care where you're from, who you are, your race, colour, religon, or opinions. It's not important to me.

This just in! Smirnoff Vodka, ISN'T A VODKA!
And Jim Beam is a Liquer!
And, omg! Do I smell Johnny Walker? Wow, water has a really big bite!

:lol2: You Irish make me laugh
I'm part Irish, my last name is O'Brien.

In fear of being wrong (which ignorant me know's I'm not) I double checked
http://www.ivo.se/guinness/faq.html
It referes to stout heaps there, because it's not a lager, or an ale. It's a stout beer

if you guys think budweiser and coors is cheap american beer, well, apparently you guys haven't been to college. Cheap american beer is natural ice (natty ice), keystone, busch.

Seeing as I live in the American beer Mecca (pacific north west) I can say that I try a different beer at least every couple of weeks, but when in doubt it's got to be Sam Adams in a pinch. Just remember, life is too short to drink cheap booze! Enjoy whatever is your flavor, just don't complain when someone offers you a beer and it isn't what you like, that just aint right.
