Flowmaster 50 Series

Just had a Flowmater 50 Series installed on my 2003 Tundra (Duals from muffler back). At speeds from 55 to 65 MPH, you can hardly hear youeself think in the cabin. If you take it up to 70 MPH, the muffler sound great. I left the resonator installed hoping the sound would not be as loud as it is. I've tried two different brands of mufflers and the Flowmaster was the only one that brought the noise down in the cabin. Would removeing the resonator help reduce the noise in the cabin or would it make it worse? I would installed a larger muffler, but I'm limited in space. Thanks.

yeah...removing the resonator would be a BAD thing to do. it would make it louder outside and inside. i have a Ravin Z-55 si/do muffler that does the same thing from 55 to 65, but its not that loud to me. i mean it would be hard to carry a conversation with someone soft-spoken but other than that it doesnt bother me cuz like you said it goes away at 70 and under about 57 for me. the interior resonance is right at 2000 rpm. but removing the resonator would make it worse.

I just bought an '02 w/iForce V8 and it had Flowmasters installed. The wife doesn't like it but my boys think it's great. I do notice that at city streets speeds it seems louder than about 70.

Even went to muffler shop to see about removing ( either the muffler or the nagging wife ) he offered to help with muffler - LOL - but said "why, you get about 2-3 mpg more and about 10 - 15hp more".

so they stay and now i don't really notice. But it sure sounds good when you get on it.

What is your gas mileage city, highway and average. I am thinking about installing a flowmaster in my tundra.

I have noticed that I'm getting about 20mpg in the city and about 25 on highway. I also installed a K&N air filter too. Not bad for a V8.
